8/10 Very Good

It is a restored historic house, very quiet, with attentive staff. The front door is kept locked a lot of the time, including overnight, so it is an especially secure place. There are no stairs which is unusual in a historic building. The room featured high old wood ceilings and tile floors. There was a mixture of old and new, such as an old sewing machine cabinet made into a table by adding a modern glass top. There was an iron tub with feet containing a good shower and the bed was comfortable. Our room did not have a window, but a ceiling vent with either just outside air or evaporative cooling kept us comfortable. There was a wall heater for times of the year one might need it. The closet was small. Breakfast was courteous and right on time, but was nothing more than coffee, juice, fresh fruit, dry cereal or toast, and yogurt. We had expected a full breakfast. It is a few blocks walk to the city center but just a block or two to the Vivabus. This is a new system with a designated bus lane and enclosed stops in the center of the street. During business hours it runs every 5 minutes. The bus runs through the city center as well as to the main bus station.

Good.
San Felipe el Real is conveniently located near down town, but far enough to miss the congestion and noise. We enjoyed the friendliness of the owners, Pearl, Daniel and Luz, and their ability to make one feel welcome. It is not a pretentious place but it has possibilities. We stayed in room #1 which can be very noisy as guests walk in the immediate hall when they come into the hotel, often carrying on conversations with other or on their phone and we were woken up two different nights. The other rooms seemed to be far from enough from the entrance and may not suffer this problem. The hotel is small and pleasant. I had no problem snf would stay there again...

clean, comfortable, lovingly restored
The actual hotel is nice. The owners have recreated a Victorian feel to the rooms. It's very simple, small and intimate. Breakfast was cooked in a kitchen area right next to a beautiful, giant table for us. Simple but delicious eggs with chorizo, cereal, yogurt and papaya. Host was helpful with ideas for what to see in our limited visit. It's walking distance to the central square and a few major sights. Not a lot of fun neighborhood vibe like we have found in Mexico City or Antigua but I would recommend the hotel to anyone spending time in Chihuahua. Make sure to look through the folder of pictures of renovation to appreciate what they did.

Great Hotel and staff
A great place to stay, located close to the main plaza but in a quiet street. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to any one visiting Chihuahua.

Lots of character
The most unusual and nicest thing about the hotel for me were the traditional dining room and living rooms. We had breakfast at a large table in the dining room with other guests, which was very pleasant (and the food was great). We relaxed in the living room whenever we wanted. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The wifi was strong. The decor is historical, which is interesting, but it made my room seem cluttered and out-of-date. My friend's room was simpler, brighter, and more pleasant. The bathrooms are modern and clean. Plenty of hot water.

Welcoming atmospere, very private
this is converted residence built in the traditional colonial Mexican style, i.e all rooms are around a small patio. Our room got its only daylight from a small window to the patio like we experienced at many other small hotels of this kind in Mexico. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, making us feel at home. When we aske for a pizzeria nearby, he suggested to have a pizza delivered and eat on the patio. He set the table for us without being asked!

A hidden jewel in downtown chihuahua
A very nice place that resembles the colonial "casonas" or "haciendas" you feel transported in time in between those walls

An amazing experience!
Staying at this hotel make you feel like home, remind me when I was a kid and visited my grandmother house. actually it's an old house but in perfect conditions. there are many antiques in the living room, rooms, kitchen, patios, doors, key of rooms, everywhere and I really like it. They prepare breakfast in the same kitchen where we eat, seating in a big table with the other guests. if someone wants to have the experience of staying in the old Mexico, this is the perfect place. We reserved the room with two beds but when we arrived the room with the king size bed was empty and got that one. Was perfect lo sleep with our 2 years old daughter.

Accommodating staff in quaint hotel.
We had two separate stays, one at either end of a trip on El Chepe, with two early starts, when Daniel was very good and made us breakfast and ensured we had a taxi.

Fabulous Comfortable Vintage Hotel
The hotel was in a lovely quaint old home with vintage furniture and beds. The staff was the most helpful we have experienced. Twice we left expensive items in the room by mistake, and the staff found them and had them available for us when we returned. The staff also speak some English.Don't let the taxi driver take you to the unpleasant Santa Cruz Hotel up the street. They are getting kickbacks. Insist on the San Felipe one block down. Convenient to downtown.

The hotel is 1882 it's a restored hotel it's only 6 rooms but they didn't have a lock , you kind of left the room feeling a little skeptical about it , service was fine and when it says it includes breakfast means you sit at a family dinning table and they cook you eggs and toast .. Also the room we had every time you showered water was all over then place .. So I rate it @ 2 ..

Cute, boutique hotel with exceptionally kind staff
We stayed at the Hotel San Felipe el Real twice, upon entering and leaving the city of Chihuahua. The hotel is nicely located in the downtown area, but not too close to anything "too touristy". The staff went of out of their way to make us comfortable and help with places to dine, taxis, rental cars, etc. Highly recommended.

Very kind and considerate manager. Wonderful breakfast in a family-like table setting. Gives you a good idea what living in a town hacienda must have felt like.

Beautiful room, amazing staff
We stayed at the hotel Christmas Day and nothing in the town was open for food, so the family of the hotel owner were kind enough to go out in their car and drive around to find us some dinner!! Wonderful service and a really beautiful room. The bath had jacuzzi jets and the bed was huge and comfortable. We loved it!
