An Imposter - Not Your Typical “Hilton”
I booked a stay at Hilton Homewood of Columbia for my wife so she could prepare for her NCLEX State Board of Nursing Exam in peace. Unfortunately, this Hilton property completely failed to meet expectations.
• Access Issues: Upon returning from dinner, her keycard and app access were deactivated, leaving her stranded in the hallway. It took 5–10 minutes to get help, only to be told “the door is dead.” Maintenance eventually fixed it.
• Bathroom Problems: Her room had a tub but no stopper. When she contacted guest services, she was told stoppers were only available in upgraded rooms, despite the tub clearly being part of her suite. She had to resort to using a washcloth to block the drain.
• Locked Out in Freezing Weather: Early in the morning, she was locked out of the building despite having a valid keycard, because she was up early loading her car before her exam. The front doors were inexplicably locked until 7 a.m., leaving her to search in 25-degree weather for an alternative way inside.
This stay added stress instead of alleviating it, ruining what should have been a peaceful and productive evening. Hilton is known for quality, but this experience was appalling. I strongly advise against staying at this location.
This was also reported to the Hilton Support Line, but I’ve heard crickets on a summer night make more response than their Support Line.
