Poor-average
Overall stay was okay however noisy with consistent sounds such as dogs barking, noise from under the door, water dripping on the window sill and water dripping in the pipes. Paid for late checkout till 1pm but got woken up at 11am being told it’s time to check out even though we had paid, they then had to go verify and left us till 1 but however disrupted our sleep.

The staff member with the 'cute' butterfly tattoos on her hands greeted us, well that's rather misleading, she gritted her teeth and glared at any form of contact with people. Definitely a very miserable person, and speaking to others they all agreed. All we heard from her was, our room number and where the lift was. That's it. The bar area toilet was horrendous and stunk like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The room itself was very clean and we had a quiet night, not like other reviews of loud people but we were on floor 5. No towels provided like any normal hotel that has rooms of the exact type and exact price, nor was it made clear of this. No bath mat meant water was everywhere after the first person of 4 showered. No bin in room, which created mess piled in a corner, a basic bin would help your cleaners. Overall, yes it's a hostel but you are charging hotel room rates for a hotel room with no services. Would boy stay again and would advise a last resort option for others.

Avoid!!!
An absolute dump. Room was dirty, bins had not been cleaned in days. Cabinet where your bed was had no way of locking it for your valuables. There’s an option to put valuables in a downstairs luggage room, which is unlocked so not safe. I highly recommend you don’t book here.
Dosent show the full bin. Hadn’t been cleaned in 3 days according to another resident.
Someone in my bed when I checked in.

A One Night Maximum Stay
A comfortable stay for one night - towels charged extra at £4 and we didn't realise there wouldn't even be a hand towel. Everything you need is there (we had a standard economy double room with an ensuite) and it was a good size. So much noise from inside though, very inconsiderate people. The bed wasn't the comfiest either so not the best night's sleep. Very central though, good for one night.

Lovely Quirky Room - but no key!!
We stayed in a suite which was nice and quirky. It was clean and comfortable. We even had a record player and some LPs! The shower room was a bit basic and although it had lights on mirror etc they didn’t work. There were no keys available for the room so the receptionist had to keep running up to 3rd floor to let us in. The bar area and reception were nice. We choose here last minute and there was not a lot of choice of accommodation as there was a lot on. Dithered whether to book just a double or suite … suite won hands down and glad I booked it as doubles looked very small. I would consider staying again. Thanks

Absolute joke of a venue … on hotels websites but treat you like a baby even though you’re paying over the odds rates. No room keys as they say people taking … no towels as they say people stealing … then they want to charge £4 per person not even as a deposit but as compensation after you’ve paid £90+ for a room. Yes it’s listed as a hostel but should not be on a hotel comparison website … truly pathetic imo. Staff just laugh as you if you question anything … banging noise all morning in corridors … stay well away if you think it’s a hotel 😡

Basic, noisy, central location
£78 one the night for the hostel (twin room) was the most I’d pay. I took my own towels but £4 a towel to borrow is terrible. Very noisy people banging doors. Was quite clean but worn it’s a historic building the worlds first ever YMCA (the receptionist didn’t know that!) Bed was comfortable but pillow was lumpy. Good central location. Mount pleasant car park is opposite.

Okay Option, Not Great
The layout of the room was quite unsafe, I think, since there was little room to move in and out of the bed pods and with little space to store luggage, it became a tripping hazard at night. I did appreciate the privacy curtains though. The room itself was quite filthy (used tissues, dirt/dust, unemptied trash, etc.) though the bathrooms were a bit better. The location is fairly close to the train station and is a short walk from the main shopping centers, though it's quite far from the airport. It lists laundry facilities as being available for guests, but that consists of a single washer and dryer for the entire building which requires a token that doesn't work most of the time. The cycles take a long time and apparently the check-in staff is not notified when the machines are out of commission. The building looks great from the outside, but sits next to a student accommodation, so it's quite noisy at night.

Clean room but poor value over all
This was a basic accommodation. Some staff were very good some not. The view was of a litter-filled yard and the brick building opposite. No car park available The room had paint peeling from walls. VERY expensive for what it was. It wouldn’t take much to clear the litter or paint the walls. Breakfast (at extra cost) was advertised but not available as ‘she had phoned in sick’ It felt like the building and business were probably owned by a landlord who only cared about the money, not really bothered about the notion of service.

Damp and Smelly
I stayed in an 8 bed dorm room. The first room I refused to stay in because it stunk of BO and damp, wet towels on the windowsills and really dark. Was moved to another dorm which was better but the whole building is damp. Mildew on the walls and ceilings, smelly and unloved. Receptionist couldn't be bothered to look up when I checked out. I slept well and the croissants were great in the morning, but I won't stay here again
