Incredibly rude staff at Onsen
Due to the fires in SoCal, we wanted to change our trip dates. Tried to change online, however the hotels.com website was not working correctly, so I resorted to calling. Hotels.com team tried to help out, but the Onsen hotel staff was incredibly rude to your team! They thought I was on hold, but I could hear the entire conversation! The Onsen staff kept trying to pretend like they couldn’t understand the slightly Indian accented, perfectly good clear English that your hotels.com staff was speaking. It was really rude and racist. Onsen finally said we needed to speak to a manager, but management refused to pick up or call back for 7 days and it was finally too late. Since I was going to be charged anyway, I decided not to cancel my reservation, so the hotel could not double dip. It was clear they were trying to keep my money AND resell the room. And just to be really clear… hotels.com staff were very patient and kind and did everything they could. And I was very patient and kind when I tried to speak to the hotel directly. My English had no accent, so I guess they’re just dismissive and rude and unresponsive to everyone. I will not ever book that hotel because I heard just how rude they were to your hotels.com staff. I will book hotels through hotels.com again, and I appreciate your compassionate and hard-working team.
