Once at the property I was greeted by the owners Roy & Vicky.
I was told that they had tried to contact us the previous day to cancel our stay and that Orbitz was aware of this. They said the reason was that the room we had booked was only for one person & there would be an additional 20 pounds per night fee for one extra person in the twin bed room (an additional 80 pounds for our 4 night stay).
The owners then offered to let me see the room.
The room was top floor. There is no elevator at The Cosy Nook. The stairway was very narrow & would be difficult to navigate with our luggage.
There was a twin bed & wash basin, no wardrobe, only hangers on a wall hook and not much else.
The "communal toilet" was right outside our door & the "communal shower room" was next to the toilet on the same floor. Both are used by all guests.
I went to speak with the owners to share my concerns about our pending stay.
The owners said they're always booked up & haven't had any complaints re: their 1 guest per room policy.
I asked the owners if they would issue a refund if Orbitz were to contact them & the owners both agreed they would.
While still at the property I contacted Orbitz to explain our predicament. Orbitz said they had tried multiple times to call the owners with no answer. I confirmed the owners phone #, he showed me his phone with no missed calls from Orbitz.
The question still remains, why did the owners try to cancel our booking the day before we arrived?
