A Hidden Gem
Looking for a good place to stay for our annual meet up with friends, we needed somewhere which was halfway between our homes in Essex and Lancashire and we came across the Bull Inn. So glad that we did. Having read the lovely reviews left by others (note: please ignore the earlier negative ones as they should be attributed to a previous ownership) we had no hesitation in making our booking. There are five guest rooms all of which are in an adjacent converted building. Whilst not over large in size they do have all the facilities and comforts that you require - comfy bed, shower, tv and tea/coffee tray in the room. Most importantly, they are spotlessly clean. Breakfast which is included is served in the pub itself (a cracking full English) whilst evening meals are also available, if required. We dined in on two evenings and found the menu wide-ranging whilst the meals which we had were very generous and excellent. The bar had a good range of drinks ( for example, three real ales on hand pump) and prices - including for wine - were very reasonable. All in all a lovely find in a beautiful setting but the jewel in the crown must be the management team of Leo (front of house) and Deana (working wonders in the kitchen) who despite obvious calls on their time always made took to time out to have a chat and make us feel so welcome. It may sound obvious but it's a skill that not everyone landlord/landlady gets right yet it is so, so important. Would we stay again? Most definitely!

Our weekend at The Bull
For a short weekend stay, the Bull Inn was perfect for my wife and I. The management are extremely friendly and working hard to make the Inn a popular venue for locals and travellers. The food was excellent and a good choice as were the wines Breakfast was more than sufficient and well presented. The water was hot and the towels sufficiently large and soft. There is plenty of parking space.and it was quiet. The only downside was that the room was not made up when we were out or the used cups washed. This isn't a big deal on a short stay but if we were staying longer, would have been an irritant.

New owners since I stayed there last year ,but found them and staff to be equally as nice, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was spot on,but special mention to Chef's Steak, done to perfection and best quality ( locally sourced i believe) that I have had in a number of years. Would recommend without hesitation.

Warm Welcome
A friend and I stayed here for the Burghley Horse Trials, which was about a 30 minute drive away. The hosts Daena & Leo, who have been running The Bull Inn for the last few months were fantastic. They are both really friendly and accommodating. We wanted to be away to Burghley before breakfast on Saturday, so they very kindly gave us a box of fruit and pastries on Friday night to take with us. Room was clean and comfortable, food in the pub restaurant was nice as was the cooked breakfast. Food, beer and room prices were good value. Locals were really friendly and welcoming too. We were really happy with our stay and will definitely stay here again when we are next in the area.

A lovely place which you really need to visit
We stayed for 2 nights, and what a lovely 2 nights it was. The owners have recently taken over with the help of the community, and the pub had only been open 12 days. They've had to put alot of time and effort to get the pub and accommodation back to where it needed to be, and they have done an amazing job!!! Everyone, especially the landlord and his wife, were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much for them and they were so welcoming. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable, the pub was very inviting with a good variation of beers/ciders/wines and non-alcoholic drinks available and the menu looked amazing, there is also an amazing beer garden with plenty of parking available. Unfortunately we didn't get chance to sample the evening menu due to other commitments, but we will certainly be back after having the breakfast, and also as they source all their food locally. The team are doing an excellent job and I would recommend staying or just visiting this lovely pub to anyone. 10 out of 10 from me, and I've stayed in quite a few places with work.

A great place to stay!
What a brilliant little find! The location is in a pretty village, and the owner is really friendly and helpful. He was on hand to greet us, and cooked us a lovely meal in the pub restaurant. Our room was spacious but warm, as was the en-suite wet room. It was lovely and quiet too. Overall a great place to stay, and one we'd happily return to.

Exceeded expectations, will be back.
Arrived around 8pm and was shown to my room which was like a little chalet. Room 2 was a little dated, with a disability friendly bathroom, but was comfortable, cosy and had everything you would like to expect. A kettle, biscuits, plenty of bathroom minis. I liked that I was separate but next to the pub and had my truck parked right outside. The atmosphere in the pub was really nice, bustling with friendly locals and their dogs. Very pleasant to sit and have a meal which was excellent. The menu is vast, well priced and the ingredients used were top notch. I slept well and the breakfast was equally excellent, freshly cooked with top quality ingredients. Just what I needed after a long day working away, I will be back as very good value.

Excellent value for money. Good Bar/Restaurant
Located in a lovely little village your room is like a single room (with shower & toilet) cottage in a "terrace" outbuilding to the rear - presumably old barn type converted. The room met our needs fully. There was a service item identified by Colin prior to our arrival that couldn't be immediately rectified however we met a mutually acceptable compromise. Only "issues" with the room were the extractor in tthe shower room didn't work and could have doe with a wipe. The closure area of the window frame needed a clean. The bar/restaurant was very nice. Food was good at a decent price. Wide choice of beers and ciders on draught. Breakfast was very tasty and set us up for the day. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Would I recommend? - most definitely Would I stay here again? - most definitely
