Relaxing
Affordable, quaint location in Big Sur - easy access to state parks and local restaurants. Had wifi in conference center and 1 bar of cell service in our cottage (very limited in this area)

Very nice, especially for the price. Nice restaurant, nice coffee/desert bar, nice room. Beautiful trails (1/2 mi, 2 mi, 4 mi) starting near the lodge.

Significant Issues
It's important to note that due to the closure of PCH, and the other weather issues the area has had to endure, that Big Sur is struggling on a lot of levels. The Lodge was severely understaffed and the staff that was there was surly and defensive when approached. It made the stay difficult to manage. Again, I understand the issues the area is dealing with, however this was one of the busiest weeks of they year so there should've been better prep on the part of the management. Mason was helpful but we are still waiting to hear back from him (or anyone at the lodge) about the adjustment made to the last night of our stay. Please let us know if you read this. Praying that Big Sur recovers fully and we'll continue to visit and support as this is a very special place to my family and I.

2/10 Poor

Extremely poor customer service.
We stayed one night. The hotel was prepaid and booked on Hotels.com. But, we were charged again but the hotel for the room. Three calls to the hotel later and still no return call from the manager regarding the over charge. Very dissatisfied!

Visit Big Sur but don’t stay in Big Sur
The BigSur Lodge is not a hotel but a collection of connected cabins which are outdated. The heater was not able to heat the cabin. There is only WiFi in the “conference center” which is run down, lacking proper seating. A poor experience

I might go back...maybe.
The stay was great. No WiFi in the room which was perfect for our stay. We needed to unplug. We couldn't check in until 1½ hr later than we were supposed to. 6 hr drive so we just wanted to settle in. We got an apology. Fair enough. During our 5 day stay we didn't get any turn down service. Didn't mention it because we got back late from a full day of being out and about. Some fresh towels what of been nice. I took the trash out myself but a new trash bag at the bottom of the bin would of been thoughtful. Ergo this review and rating.

The surroundings are gorgeous. The lodging was comfortable but could really use a bathroom update and new paint. It’s remote and very quiet.

Large cabins not hotel room
Large well equipped cabins that required a certain amount of walking but worth it. Enjoyed the feeling of tge place. Somewhat over priced probably because of the limitrd options in the area

It was lovely and handy for our daily hikes. It was once having a kitchen and living room to chill out in after epic hikes

Very pricey with no Wifi. Can't view the ocean unless you drive there and pay $15 to park. Restaurants in Big Sur are overpriced.
