5 stars
It was lovely place to spend our mini Christmas holiday . We have been surprised the rooms looked better then at the pictures. Was a small kitchen . We could have every night dinning, nice family table. Just missing in the room vase for flowers. The rooms was clean . Everything perfect ! Not far shops for food .

Gorgeous room let down by a very uncomfortable bed. “Hot tub” not what we thought no jets/bubbles was basically a warm bath outside.

Lovely place despite a few issues.
The overall experience at the Garden Rooms was good. We would return, though there were a few things which disappointed us. The large sliding doors to the outside were very difficult to open. We are not feeble but it was almost impossible to slide due to being very heavy and stiff. The room itself smelt very strong of wood smoke from the chimnea, we did not use it during our stay. Also, the couch was extremely stained, i assume from people sitting on it when wet after using the hottub. It looked really uninviting and therefore we did not use it. Breakfast in the main hall was lovely and the staff were very welcoming. Especially the Americam lady on reception who had recently started working there.

Can’t wait to visit again!
We had a fantastic stay in a Garden Room at Newton Hall, all the staff we met were so helpful and friendly. The facilities were well appointed and clean. Breakfast delivered to the room and in the dining room at the hall were delicious. The room was warm, cosy and the balcony with hot tub was very private. We had a s’mores kit and cocktail kit from the Hall which kept adults and kids very happy!

Lovely room, felt very secluded and private despite there being other rooms nearby. Great meal at The Joiners and good breakfast at the hall. Only tiny quibble was that the pillow was far too hard for me. Will definitely book again

2/10 Poor

We stayed in one of the garden rooms as a nice break away from work. The room looked nice from the outside but wasn’t up to the same standard on the inside. There was mould on the entrance curtain and a lot of dust in the main room. The bathroom was covered in mould behind the sink, toilet, on the blind that is in the shower and on the basket where the clean towels are placed. It was very disappointing for the money spent. The room itself should be nice but hasn’t been finished to a high standard, shoddy workmanship for the finish’s like the plug in the wardrobe, handles on the cupboards loose, toilet roll holder loose, damage to the wood on the doors. The room also felt a bit cramped with not much space to navigate past the bed and too the bathroom. We actually came back to our room after a long walk when the cleaners were doing our room so instead of disturbing them we attempted to get a drink from the bar but there was a wedding on so we couldn’t (which is fair enough) and by the time we walked past our room, 5mins later the room had been ‘cleaned’. Thermostat wasn’t working so no way to cool the room down during the day and can only cool down the room with the doors wide open which in the evening is no good as the lights are generally on so attracts all the bugs. The hot tub was the only good feature of the room. We did complain to the manageress who took our feedback onboard and was going to offer us some form of discount but we are still waiting to hear back from her

Absolutely fantastic accommodation. Spotlessly clean. Very quiet area, so perfect. Only fault is lack of ventilation, no a/c and only patio window opens. Breakfast was a real bonus. It’s a 5 minute walk to pub in local village.

Close proximity of neighbours is not apparent on website. We had very rowdy neighbours on our last night. They were shouting, moving furniture and slamming doors between 12.30 and 2.30 at night

Damp and Poor Cleanliness
Unfortunately despite being in an idyllic location, the Garden Room was very disappointing in terms of condition and cleanliness. Water / damp was seeping up through in many areas through the laminate flooring which meat feet were always wet. Damp and mould was creeping up the walls, and the bathroom door would not close at all due to warping from the damp. Wooden panels were coming away from the walls, the sliding door had broken seals and was so hard to open and the curtains and doors were filthy, also through damp and poor cleanliness. Unfortunately there was nobody available on departure to discuss things with or to request a refund. My partner was struggling to breath in the room due to the strong smell of damp and due to the mouldy areas on the walls. Such a shame as the grounds and location are very good indeed. Are Hotels.com able to seek compensation on our behalf or can this communication be forwarded to the property for consideration.

Check in reception area difficult to find. Parking area difficult to find. No available seating for breakfast so had to have a bag of food delivered to your door at their appointed time (8-845). Walkways to your room were made with very loose stones so almost impossible to manoeuvre your luggage-not senior friendly. Only 1 restaurant available to eat at and when the 4 of us went for supper we could not eat inside! Had to eat out on picnic tables and it was cold out! The multiple empty tables inside were being held for reservations! Having fire pits at each unit is a great idea until it is hot in your room and you can’t open your door as the smell of smoke from the neighbours fire pit comes right in
