Learn more about Key West

Hemingway's ghost still haunts the bars where he once drank, while roosters strut through streets with more confidence than tourists. At Mallory Square, sunset becomes theater as fire-jugglers and troubadours compete for attention. The Southernmost Point buoy draws selfie-seekers, though locals know the actual southernmost spot lies elsewhere. Tour the author's six-toed-cat-filled home before cooling off with key lime pie that sparks debates about meringue versus whipped cream. Snorkel at Fort Zachary Taylor, then wander Duval Street where T-shirt shops give way to sophisticated galleries. The Truman Little White House reveals presidential history, while the nightly parade of characters proves that in Key West, being normal is the only real sin.

Ibis Bay Beach Resort

Ibis Bay Beach Resort

4/10 Poor
"This resort is in serious need of updating. The grout along the bottom of the tub was grossly discolored and cracked. The private " beach: is a strip of sand over rock leading to a ledge of rocky access to the water. When room cleaning was requested, no new sheets, no sweeping the floor. Breakfast offerings never varied. No phone. Inadequate room lighting. No TV channel guide. No recycling options. Would have appreciated a coffee maker, a microwave. No airport shuttle. We expected more for $500/day."

"Booked a twin queen bed suite for this stay and was told it was a garden view only to discover it was a view of the parking lot. Then there was a significant water leak which flooded our room while we were out for a walk and soaked our suitcases. The repair man came while we were having dinner, however, when we returned the leak was starting to pool water in our room again. The hotel offered to switch us to a standard room and a $200 refund which I felt was rich when we had booked a suite. We weren’t interested, so thankfully Expedia issued a full refund and we drove back to Miami late that evening. "

Hyatt Vacation Club at Windward Pointe, Key West

Hyatt Vacation Club at Windward Pointe, Key West

8/10 Good
"This is a lovely, well maintained property. The views are great and the grounds are quite nice. Note that there is no direct beach/ocean access - there's a busy road between the water and the resort. Also - it is right next to the airport, we easily walked from the resort to the airport when we left. So, it can be quite loud when planes are coming and going. Be prepared to rent a car or incur lots of rideshare/taxi fees if you want to spend time in Old Town, it's a 15 minute drive to Duval Street, Southernmost, Hemingway House, etc. There are no nearby shops so if you plan to use the kitchen, include a stop at the grocery store. The only onsite restaurant is the poolside casual bar which has some food options. It was fine for snacks. There is nothing, besides the aiport, in easy walking distance. "
