Very poor customer service
Cannot fault the room or facilities, which were modern and very clean. However my immediate experience was being told off for my coat dripping on the floor (it was absolutely tipping it down outside, so hardly my fault). I was then informed I had reacted badly to this and did not have to stay at the hotel!!

Overall I had a pleasant overnight, restful night, bed really comfy, room and en suite clean. Room size I had was ok for one person. Good selection of tea/coffee etc plus biscuits. (no hair dryer in the room but I didn't bother go and ask for one). Next days pre packed breakfast was brought to the room, offering various continental and other breakfast type bites plus fesh fruit and a cartoon of fruit juice. Guy at reception was welcoming and gave clear instructions to my room. staff were helpful and supportive. As It's on a busy road, and if like me you like the windows open, it can be rather noisy, especially as I wear hearing aids.. plus as I didn't want to disturb others I needed to use subtext on the TV but it wouldn't work. The member of staff who brought up the breakfast basket, tried his best to get it functioning but he too had trouble, I was informed they would look into it, so other future residents don't have same problem. It's just that with traffic noise I couldn't hear the TV unless on really loud. It was convenient for me but reversing out is a bit iffy into a main road/people walking along pavement... low, plus I wear hearing aids

2/10 Poor

Bed sheets and linen was filthy. I had to ask for a new duvet as it had massive blood stains on it. I ended up replacing all the linen on the bed and which sim had stains. Room smells bad which wouldn’t air out no matter how long we had the windows open. Glasses hat lipstick stains on them. Overall it was filthy but the guy at the desk was polite & friendly

2/10 Poor

At £55 a night, you know what to expect really – so expectations aren’t that high, you get what you pay for – fair enough. Judging by the photos online it looked adequate, and when we arrived the room was basic as expected, but clean and bright with a TV, fridge, bathroom with shower and tea/coffee-making facilities. So far so good. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. I can honestly say this was the worst hotel experience of my life. This is why – We were greeted by the hotel manager/owner, who initially was pleasant enough, checked us in no problems. Later that night when we turned in and went to the bed, the occupants in the room next to us, clearly drunk and on drugs, had a full-blown domestic in the early hours of morning. Shouting, screaming, furniture being thrown around/smashed, hitting one another, crying and calls for help. It was terrifying to be honest, and we felt trapped in our room with no way out as it kept spilling out into the corridor outside our room. When things had quietened down briefly, I was able to make my way to the lobby. As it was 2am, the place was deserted as expected, but on the reception desk there was a sign with some phone numbers to ring in case of an emergency. I returned to my room, and the chaos in the next room escalated again – so I rang the number twice, but no answer. I tried one more time, and planned to phone the police if there was no answer. Eventually the manager/owner did answer. He seemed harassed that I had woken

Ok
Welcome was fine including a call earlier in the day to check what type of room we required. Room was comfortable enough, bit strange having a full size fridge in the room though. Could have benefitted from a bit more of a clean (blinds especially) and a coat hook and some hooks in bathroom for towels. Also a hand towel and a bath mat would be helpful. Room was paid for including breakfast, but this was non existent on either of the days we were there (we weren't up late or particularly early either).

Good value, awful staff, won't be back
It's difficult to be objective with the level of disgust I'm feeling, but here goes... The standard and size of room, the cleanliness of the bathroom and overall value for money couldn't be faulted. The £5 breakfast consisted of pre-packed pastries, some fruit, and various breakfast snacks - decent enough for a fiver. My issues with the hotel centre around the disgustingly rude staff member that begrudgingly 'greeted' me when I checked in. I emailed ahead to explain I'd be arriving around 11.30pm. The front desk was advertised as being open until midnight. When I arrived, at 11.20pm,I called the number on the front desk. A chap then appeared, and immediately made me feel unwelcome, stating check-in had closed at 10.30pm. After a night of work and a 2 hour drive, I didn't need this negative attitude. The staff member then demanded ID... I've never been asked for this in any hotel in the UK before. I presented my driving licence, and against my wishes, it was photocopied by the staff member. I was then shown to my room at the front of the hotel. The road noise was just about bearable, but a thick set of curtains doesn't constitute sound-proofing. I've tried to give a balanced review, in spite of being treated like crap. I will not be returning, and I will not recommend this hotel to anyone else. It's a service industry. If you don't like working in it, do something else.
