Checking in was one of the worst experience I've ever had when, upon my arrival at 3.30am, the front desk guy informed me that my reservation was cancelled because check-in ended at 6.30pm, even though it was stated as 5.30am on Expedia and that I had explicitly mentioned that I would check in at 2-3am under Additional Requests. Moreover, rooms of the type in my reservation were fully occupied, and the cheapest available rooms would cost more.
In summary, not only was there going to be a no-show charge, the room was going to cost more.
It was only after quite a bit of talking that he gave us one of those aforementioned rooms at the same rate we were supposed to pay. The Expedia hotline was of no use because once the representative on the line understood the situation, he was going to put me on hold and asked me to start looking for a room myself. By the time I passed the phone over to the front desk, the situation has already been resolved.
The room itself was great and the hotel is located 5 minutes from the subway entrance, making it easy to visit the rest of the city. There were plenty of power sockets in the room and the lighting was very good. In terms of cleanliness, the room was as good as new, which the hotel probably is. For food, there is a convenience store right next door and some restaurants within a minute's walk.
