Had a really good short stay at Kings Hotel Chiayi. It is located a short 5 mins walk from the train station which is helpful if you were taking the morning Alishan Railway or connecting to any of the other cities.
About a 10 min walk from the night market which had plenty of food options.
Breakfast was included, nice clean restaurant, plenty of food choices incl. Western. Overall highly recommend if you are passing through Chiayi and looking for a comfortable stay before or after your Alishan trip.

The room was seemed ok, but the hallways were way too humid and had a smell to it. The most inconvenient thing was the parking. The lot for larger cars was about 1km away and I had young kids with me. When I tried to request them to confirm for pick up using the line app. I had no response. The waiting and back and forth to pick up the car wasted a lot of time.
