2 nights in Fox Glacier
It was an amazing experience to stay in a wooden cabin. There were adequate facilities including a fully equipped kitchenette. The staff is friendly and they also offer a Glowworm spotting walking tour at 7 pm. Overall, very good experience and would recommend in Fox Glacier area.

We loved the friendly guy in reception, he was very helpful. We didn't like the cleanliness of the room, found lots of places that weren't clean. An area in the bathroom next to the bath still had a lot of hair and fluff like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile.

The ambiance created by the Lodge truly captured my Fox Glacier mountain experience. As a female Solo traveller I found it warm, friendly, and loved the shared kitchen with every whim catered for. Lovely to interact with fellow travellers and also retire to my own space/balcony for privacy.

Nice Hotel in Fox Glassier which it is near Franz Josef Glacier (FJG). Hotel located on the road and great value. It is about 30 minutes from FJG but ok. Independent units with a chalet style with all you might need.

Our chalet was very comfortable, and cosy. It was quiet, but central to the cafes and supermarket in the main street. A beautiful breakfast was included, and the kitchenette was great. The chalet was clean, with parking at the door.

8/10 Very Good

We stayed one night, room was reasonably clean, staff was super friendly. Breakfast is included, very basic but enough to start the day. The bread on the table appeared to be homemade and was very good. Small kitchen area for everyone trying to cook breakfast at the same time but doable. All in all a good experience.

What a wonderful place to stay nestled in the tropical rainforests and mountains. Our room was extremely clean and had everything we would need. The owners were fabulous. We checked in after hours and they went out of their way to accommodate us! Loved the short distance to the glowworm forest and good dinning.

Well Stocked
Our room had a beautiful bathtub and a well-stocked kitchen. This was one of our favorite lodges. We would happily stay there again. The glowworm tour was a wonderful extra.

Very nice chalet style accommodation with comfortable loft sleeping and living area below. No electrical outlets in the bathroom was a bit unusual though.

4/10 Fair

Although the pictures of the property online were quite attractive the actual property was lacking in appeal. The room carpeting was dirty and looked like it hadn’t been replaced in too many years to even guess. The room had a musty smell and anyone with allergies or breathing issues (me) would have issues. The handrails were covered with metal which was slippery, impossible to grip and was either HOT or cold and dangerous to anyone who required a rail to hold going up the stairs. Rating this property with a 2 would be generous.

Very close to Fox Glacier helicopter tour experiences. The lodge also offered a guided glo worm walk through the Minnehaha walkway, a good way to meet other travellers. Property has private cabins, shared fascilities and easy access for campervans. Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere.

Compact room, hostel-style kitchen breakfast
We had a compact room and were therefore offered the use of a small room opposite for our luggage, which we didn't need. Everything in the room was clean but the carpet was worn. The location was quiet. Kettle and breakfast were in a communal kitchen which was more hostel-style than hotel. Adequate food was laid out in the morning, which we helped ourselves to. It was off-putting that people were expected to do their own washing up, and we saw people just rinsing things minimally under the tap rather than washing them properly.

8/10 Very Good

Room was a nice size. Bed was comfortable; I appreciated the extra comforters and a good room heater for the cold temperatures. I was surprised that we had to make our own breakfast and wash our dishes; that was a new experience for a place that advertised "breakfast included," but it worked OK.
