Friendly staff, nice garden but noisy smokers room
For 2 different nights in two rooms. In both rooms the windows could not be closed completely (because of adaptation deficits with the new AC System. Thus the noise of the heavy traffic on the street nearby diminished the comfort greatly. Moreover the second room was filled with an unacceptable smoke-odor, which penetrated all my cloths within the open suitcase Obviously not enough care was taken to prevent smokers from smoking in or too close to the room. At the reception they were not aware of this situation - in both cases the friendly staff at the reception tried to help with air-fresh- spray ..and with taking out the AC System .. in order to be able to close the window at least. The back rooms further back behind the Greens of the nice garden with fountain -further away from the street .. might be somewhat better ( when they are smoke-free with closing windows (?))

Overall, an average stay in all aspects. Nothing unexpected but also nothing extraordinary. The check-in process was easy. The front staff was nice. The property surroundings are alright but can seem sketchy to some. We didn't notice much except for the amazing authentic Korean restaurant next door. Dunno if there's anything else around. The room was neat which was good. It had functioning heating, cooling, hot water, cable tv, and wifi. Their windows face the walkway so privacy is challenging. Either don't mind the outside or keep curtains closed. The bed was alright except that ours constantly made this squeaky sound whenever we move, loose frame or headboard(?) It woke me up a few times from me myself moving and/or my partner. The bathroom didn't seem to have an operating vent fan but there was a window one could crack open. The room was clean in the general aspects but some details like window frame and nooks and crannies can use some more attention. A good hotel for the price and a short overnight stay on the road but not one I'd recommend for a staycation. Lower star hotels in the area and their prices have gone up which does not reflect what they offer so the difference between them and a higher end one should be greatly considered.

Aircon is portable unit, wedged in a corner next to the window/bed so took the room a long time to cool down, and also noisy. Despite the no smoking signs someone was clearly smoking pot in the hallway in the middle of the night, which smelled strongly INSIDE our room. Not great especially for our young kids.

Cheap price for this time of the year (summer) in Nanaimo but clean, staff is nice. If your expecting anything but basic accommodations than this place isn’t for you

2/10 Poor

Noisy - street, cars going by all night, portable A/C running due to hot weather. Did not feel safe around the property - traveling with family.
