Good Location
The hotel is quiet with basic amenities. It is within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. It does, however, require a deep clean.

Both Oda and Emily at reception were welcoming and always quick with a cheery hello and smile. This was once a lovely lodge, with fireplaces, full kitchens, heated outdoor pool surrounded by lovely trees and shrubs and other wonderful amenities, but has fallen into disrepair/neglect. Having said this though, it has been bought/taken over and renos have begun. The new owners (who also own The Spot in Nanaimo and The Spot at Porpoise Bay in Sechelt, among others) expect the renovations to be completed within the next 6 months or so. We stayed in a Queen Room with a fridge/cooktop/microwave/coffee machine, etc. There was a non-working fireplace and an outdoor patio. The bathroom was large, with newer tile on the floor and around the tub/shower, but the cabinets were old and showed it and the twin sinks were chipped and rusting. It was over-priced for the condition of the room. The water/beach is several blocks away, down a very, very steep street. There was an "abandoned" car, surrounded by garbage, sitting in the parking lot at the front of the building. We were told that the police had been contacted and that the car was due to be towed. Seemingly some people were living in it and just left it there. Our question was why hadn't anyone at least picked up the garbage that was on the ground around it? Anyway, as I mentioned, the lodge is due for major renovations.

Cozy. Stay out of the pool
I liked the motel. Cozy is an apt word. Pool was not suitable for swimming in. The water was green & cloudy. lol. There should have been a sign stating to stay out

We stay here because it is close to the ferry and reasonably priced. It is dated but the suites are spacious and have a lovely Courtyard. They advertise Kitchenettes but really just fridge and microwave an a few dishes. There is a 2 burner stove but no pots or pans. There is very little cutlery supplies. But was just fine for our stay and we would stay again.

The pool wasn’t open and full of algae. Don’t advertise a pool as an amenity closed…or at least message your guests that it’s closed!

2/10 Poor

Property was very old and in serious need of an update. Musty smell. Cob webs everywhere. Furniture and fixtures were in need of repair or updates. No shampoo or conditioner in room. Front counter staff was kind and helpful. Price is outrageous for this hotel.

This is a well kept aging property with friendly staff. The room had an old seventies West Coast vibe with cooking amenities and a nice courtyard pool. We look forward to staying again .

The room did not look like the picture , bedside tables were sticky and the paint was peeling off. Cracks in the floor, cracks in the tiles above the tub, cracks in the heart. They only gave us one access card due to them saying they get stolen which made it very inconvenient for the two of us to organize our time there. When we arrived we were told with a smile that the pool was about the same temperature as the ocean. It looks nice on the website but it was too cold to swim in. I choose this hotel based on the pictures and the pool. I did not get either for 175 a night.
