This hotel is in a ski resort so quite a way from town but well worth the extra distance for the views. The breakfast was very basic but ok.

Superbly located hotel at the foot of the slopes
This was our second visit to the Marmotel as it is well equipped and could not be more ideally located in Pra Loup for skiing. Our room had a little balcony where we watched the fireworks and was comfortable for a family of 4 and serviced well every day. The bar area is attractively laid out and lovely for playing games and a pre-dinner drink. There’s a great crepe and waffle area for after skiing. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality. Each room has a locker for skiis and you walk straight out of the boot room onto the slopes. My only niggle would be that the hotel charges 10 euros a day for parking. I would definitely recommend the Marmotel and would gladly return next time we are in Pra Loup. We has a fantastic family holiday there.

Very comfortable and on the slopes
Very comfortable stay. Very convenient for skiing as it's on the slopes. You can ski to the door and each room has a ski locker.
Standard family room was tight for 4 of us. Our 2 boys had almost no room for their bags, although they did have their own area with a door between them as us, providing some privacy. I would go for a superior family room next time which has a bigger second area for children.
A very good breakfast was included, although one of the chefs needs to learn how to cook scrambled eggs. We only had 2 evening meals which were of mixed success. They operate a buffet system which is great for starters and deserts but not so good for mains. Mains were not very hot. In fact we had monk fish cheeks which were cold, despite having just come up from the kitchen. Having said that at €25 per head for adults is is quite good value.
Staff were very helpful and the main bar a d sitting area is lovely.
All in all we very much enjoyed our stay and plan to go back next year.

Nice hotel in the ski area.
The hotel is a short drive (~ 7 km) from Barcelonette in a ski area. It was quite difficult to find because of the confusing signs. Just keep driving to the ski lift area. The room was nice, although on the smaller side. Separate bathroom and toilet. The mountain view from the window was stunning. Excellent starting point for hiking (summer visit) and biking trips. As in most hotels in the region the free WiFi didn't work.

Lots of potential but something lacking
Sometimes you stay somewhere and you can't quite put your finger on the missing thing. Rooms were well appointed and spotlessly clean, food was good if a little limited in choice, staff were friendly and location, right on the ski slope was superb. I think it's missing a really good manager to pull it all together. Some of the refurb could have been better - a heated boot room would be good and hooks in rooms to hang ski gear. They didnt mend my daughters broken bed which was irritating. For the money, it was good value and I would stay there again but with a little more oomph, it could be great.
