The location was ideal across the street from our concert venue, and with restaurants and shops nearby as well.

Room was fairly clean, hall smelled like cigarette smoke, it was very loud (both from street and surrounding rooms). The windows wouldn’t properly lock. It was VERY overpriced for what it was.

Rooms were very clean. Staff was nice and helpful. Hotel restaurant was delicious. The historic 100 year old hotel was close to the venue and other restraunts and cute shops. Very charming. Id stay there again and again.

The area is in great location and close to everything. Parking is a huge issue. Property and rooms are in poor and outdated condition. Everything is old, falling apart, towels and bed sheets were dirty with yellow spots, discussing. I would never stay at this hotel again.

This ex-hostel was a good place to stay on a non-busy weekend. Shared shower with about 10 other rooms. Most were vacant which made it nice for us. Staff was very friendly.

For the price, good deal with great location in downtown Berkeley and room not street side was quiet. Neat older building design (though a bit tight).

I enjoyed my stay although a little bit much for a small room, tv would not work half the time. Bathroom is not included with room unless “upgraded”. Staff were nice and friendly. Food options nearby, it can be a little noisy, the beds were nice and clean and very comfy.

No heat, but clerk brought a portable fan heater. Not much sports on TV, no ESPN. Nice room for the price. Make sure you book a private bath!

Loved the area and the vibe of the hotel. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Window looked onto a small but beautiful garden. My only beef was low water pressure in the shower. But overall a really great choice.

This is a quaint hotel perfect for seeing a show at the UC theatre. It has an ancient vibe going for it. The only thing I could say that was hard about the stay was the lack of parking, the sheets were a bit stained, and the stopper on the shower/tub was stuck in between but all and all a good stay. Especially if you plan on getting out of the bars or show late and need a nosh the Nash Cafe was open for some bomb food.

Great stay and location

Very nice and friendly staff. Rooms are good quality and are worth the price. Rooms feel very safe and sound insolation is pretty good. Me and friends have stayed here multiple times (4) because the location is very good for eating and bars, as well as being close to Berkeley college. The biggest downside is there is no parking, and the nearby parking garage that can accrue a pretty high fee if you need to keep it there for many days. When I visit San Francisco I will always stay here because of the convenient transportation as well. Great little hotel!!

Sometimes you truly get what you pay for.

The bed was actually comfortable. Wanted to start in a positive note. First night we could not sleep at all because the room smelled. Smelled so badly that we still were aware of the bad smell in the middle of the night. It did air out by next night. Not sure why they did not foresee this problem. Very thin walls. Very run down. Very good price. Will pay more next time to stay anywhere else. We paid extra for a bathroom in our room did not realize that’s a luxury

Location is the best quality. Bed was small and uncomfortable. I know you are basically paying for location. Would be nice to update the rooms, and get some better beds and pillows. Small conveniences like ice would be nice as well.

It was overpriced for what you get in opinion. It was a little bit dirty and run down. It is an old building but not kept up well. I was just expecting something much nicer. The location is nice though .

Close to campus, friendly staff

We booked our stay for an extremely busy weekend in town. We booked rather late so selection was limited. We need a place that we can walk to our destination, so that makes our selection very limited for our budget. We know this hotel is in an old building. The room was smaller than expected. The lighting was not working but the staff was very helpful and responsive and got it figured out. The fact that the light fixture was burned out and left a mark on the desk was a bit concerning. All in all, this hotel is as we have expected.

I was originally going to SF with my wife, but that fell through, so I ended up going solo-- I booked a room at the Nash since I was going to a concert at the UC theater across the street. They have shared bathrooms on each floor. I knew what I was getting into and figured I could rough it a couple of days without showering---I just had to share a toilet---but a couple of times, the commode was backed up. This means, either the plumbing is bad--or it just shows how many savages there are in our society and these people don't know how to use a toilet like a grown up. I feel sorry for the facility staff that have to clean up after these animals on a daily basis. other than that...the room was clean, the bed wasn't the most comfortable, but I slept. Def wouldn't be here if my wife went came along....but, I would if go to another show by myself.

Feeling like I'm in a cheap Paris hotel

Hotel Nash was a *bit* of a surprise. While the service was very helpful and kind, it's definitely not a typical American hotel. When we arrived, we had to ring the doorbell to be let in, and walked through a restaurant to get to the elevator. The hotel in general is quite old, and although they have made efforts to keep it clean, it just has a dilapidated feeling to it - there was a blocked window in our bathroom that did not close and leaked cold air, there was chipping paint in the bathtub, exposed wiring, etc. The room even lacked bedside outlets to charge our phones overnight and only one side of the bed had a nightstand. Most concerning was that when we entered the room, windows had been left ajar that opened to a fire escape - we could have walked in to someone lying in wait - as a woman traveling with her young daughter, I consider this a safety issue. Our room was next to a room full of young adults who were loud/partying late into the night - didn't even try to take action, as I saw a sign at the front desk giving a phone number to call if you needed anything at night. If no one is on-site, why would I wake someone else up to help?

The hotel is very old & sockets were unreliable. No AC but they did supply a small fan. Parking was awful. The hotel does not provide any & Berkeley is extremely busy all the time. It was difficult to find a parking spot. Towels were spotless and a good supply was provided. This hotel is close walking distance from Berkeley University.

We stayed because we went to a concert right across the street at the UC Theatre. That was a big plus because we didn't have to drive anywhere. Lots of restaurants around there and some smoke shops. Can't say anything about parking because we got dropped off. I will say the first room we were given hadn't been cleaned so it was a bit gross to see unmade beds and dirty towels. They did immediately put us in another room that was clean. We paid extra to have a private bathroom, and we were quite pleased with the size and cleanliness.
