Simple luxury
Amazing stay, the people working there were incredibly nice. The wellness facilities (pool, sauna, steam room) were also very welcome for a cold December day! The brasserie in the hotel is well worth a visit, the food was spectacular. The rooms are luxurious without being over the top, with great quality furnitings and amazing bathroom.

A great stay
My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Ruths Hotel. The room was well appointed, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the sauna was perfect after a December walk on the beach.

Best hotel in town!
Excellent hotel facilities and food, plus service to match, just prepare yourself for the constant westerly wind which is a feature of the Skagen region!

We loved the location, close to the beach but also the room, breakfast, dinner -- everything about it and the location was perfect for those wanting to explore Skagen area of Denmark. Many people were walking, running, biking as well as driving. It was simply perfect for people who want to relax and yet explore.

4/10 Fair

Check in staff totally pompous and misleading
We asked specifically for a quiet room. We were personally taken to our room which was beautifully appointed and clean. After retiring around 10:00 we figured out we were above the kitchen and were subjected to every bang and clang of the kitchen clean-up until they were finished at 1:30 AM. I'm starting to see a pattern that Expedia users get the less desirable (crummy) rooms. What's your experience with Expedia rooms?

Enjoyable stay
Very nicely decorated and comfortable room in the annex. Nice breakfast in dining room. Enjoyed the spa with heated swimming pool. Only two issues - we ate in the brasserie and the tables were so close to each other you had to move them to get people in and out and it felt like you were eating with people on either side. Maybe this was because the main dining room was closed. Other issue which caused great concern to my Danish partner was that the Dannebrog flag touched the ground when it was being taken down at sunset ......being a Brit I wasn't that worried but apparently this is a national crime to Danes !!

6/10 Good

Good hotel with some drawbacks
Ruth's hotel is close to the dunes but a long way from town. That means that you tend to want to eat there to avoid the drive and they have a captive market for their overpriced, bland food in their restaurant. There is also an even more expensive gourmet restaurant, but it is open only a few nights a week and you need to book well ahead for that. Staff were all great. We were greatly attracted by the indoor therapeutic pool which turned out to be a big disappointment. The water was tepid, not warm, most of the water jets were not working, the pool room was not kept clean, used towels were not picked up and used glasses and dishes were not cleared. It was a bit of a tip. I am not sure where the promised mudbaths were; we didn't see any. Other drawbacks were the lack of a coffeemaker in the room and no coffee to help yourself to in the lounge. We left at 6:30 the second morning, effectively paying for a breakfast we couldn't eat as they don't start serving until 7:30. There isn't even anyone working at the front desk at 6:30 am! We booked something called a junior suite, but it wasn't a suite, just one room, despite the picture that suggested that we would have two. A loveseat against a wall and an armchair were the so-called separate sitting area. Overall, the place seems too pricey for the experience.

8/10 Very Good

Quality, stylish hotel, but avoid peak period
Great stay in a quality and stylish hotel in a lovely and unique part of Denmark. Food, drink, and suite all excellent. Service was very slow at times, particularly in the bar, due to high season crowds - there should be a system for identifying and prioritising hotel guests over visitors in the bar. Also, along with all things in Denmark, it is very expensive for tourists. One point to note, the hotel is spread over several buildings - including the car parking - we were in the main building, which I would recommend - poor weather would make other buildings a pain!
