Terrible nights sleep
Being the week before Xmas, we wanted a peaceful rest We made an on line booking for a family room, on arrival we were given number 112 which when we realized at 5.45 am that a waste bin collection lorry had a collection which woke us up there was a lot of noise with no consideration to the people sleeping in the rooms above this area. We paid very good money £117.00 for one nights stay, we did not choose this room we were given this room, saying you are allocated to room 112 upon arrival, why where we given this room? they saw one of us has a disabled walking crutch. The room is at the end of a corridor and is a very long way from the reception. The hotel knows very well that they book a waste collection and should have full control over when it will be collected, in our case we were fully let down by the hotel. In addition we expected 4 star treatment from a 4 star hotel, in our opinion the hotel is only hanging on to it's 4 star rating, the hotel has a excellent facade in blue and white but inside it is faded and very well worn, the carpets had seen better days there was wall deterioration, the plywood boards that help on the steps have totally gone to pieces in respect of totally being worn out, paint wise and need a full repaint, there were bits of formica split off in our room the beds were not that comfortable and we tossed and turned all night. Just not a very good experienced. I would state that in our case the only compensation is a full reimursement.

The hotel was good and service friendly. However we had booming bass music until midnight. When checking out reception told us it was a Christmas party and would be loud at that end of the building. Excellent location.
