Great hotel, a little run down, but clean and friendly and helpful (but over worked) staff. Excellent breakfast! Parking is free, but crowded.

Decent hotel, just a short walk from the main town center. Close to local bike routes too.
The room was okay, and was clean, but the bed mattress was a little old, and sunken.

It’s a great place if you need a stop over towards north. I didn’t expect luxury for that price but it has all what it needs to get a rest. Nice bed, got a good nights sleep and shower and carried on early the next day so I cannot say much about the breakfast.

This hotel was perfectly placed, and very comfortable for a family stay. Staff were fantastic, in particular Shanice who checked us in and answered all our questions about our short visit to the city, and was very friendly. Very comfortable sleep and a good breakfast the following day. We would definitely stay again, very well priced and overall a very positive stay.

Best value accommodation, even cheaper than a Youth Hostel. Decent sized room, with a desk and everything required for a good nights sleep.
All staff, at reception and housekeeping, did their best to make us comfortable and at home.
Would love to return one day!

Don’t be put off by the exterior. Staff very friendly. Room freshly decorated and very clean only let down by a poor mattress.

I'm sure the people who have taken over this Hotel are trying their best to bring it back to the way it must have been when it was in its former glory days. The staff are very friendly and helpful under the cicumstances, the rooms large & comfortable with plenty hot water available. The rates are very good considering the proximity to the Lake District with good transport connections on the doorstep. Needless to say but I'll be back !

Tired looking exterior.Built in 1970’s I reckon.Very friendly, helpful, hardworking staff.room was clean, spacious and had everything you would expect.Had a decent bar and hot food available ,of a reasonable quality and at good price.A real bargain.i would certainly use again when in Carlisle.

The only reason to choose it is because it's cheap, but all we wanted was a bed for the night to break the journey from north of Scotland to South coast. Arrived at 9pm, left at 8:30am, straight after basic but perfectly adequate cooked breakfast.
Run down appearance, looks like it was the equivalent of a Travelodge that was decommissioned but still operating as a hotel. The morning receptionist was friendly and helpful. Parking free. Not somewhere to stay with children or as a treat in anyway, but if you just want very cheap accommodation to break a journey, it was fine.

Perfect for a short stay.
Not the most visually attractive building but served our needs.
Probably one of the best breakfasts ive ever had and well worth the £8
Staff were very nice and extremely helpful.
Our room had a smell when we arrived. We were told that after heavy rain the deains backed up. It was away by morning and there was no water ingress. We would return.

I stayed in this property number of years and it was very run down, in need of some TLC. Please to say rooms have been redecorated and are comfortable.
Didn't try the food as busy seeing friends but they appeared to have deals on most days

Receptionist was a bit cold and unfriendly by asking if I was from Tyneside when I am in fact from the borders of Scotland!
Lots of rough white van man types in shorts staying at the hotel who weee loud and noisy til 2 am .
Room was nice and cheap for the price paid but dated
10 minutes walk to a nearby Asda as a cold drink from the hotel bar costs £3-50 and is in a bottle as they don’t do draft drinks from a pump.
Like a can of cheap beans you get what you pay for and this hotel does its job

Slow check in as only one member of staff available and she was also serving food and running the bar. Several people had arrived to find that despite their reservations the hotel didn’t have a room for them. They were not happy. It took two trips back to reception to have my room entry card reprogrammed before I was able to get into my room. The room was average but tired

There is plenty of parking there contrary to some of the info I saw. Staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were good and rooms spacious.and warm. The hotel could do with modernization as it looks tired however it's reflected in the price. My stay was pleasant and I would stay again.
