If you are into something modern and private then this is not the place for you. It is beginning to show its age on the inside but we were quite fine with that - a different experience for us on our 6 week trip across Europe. Overall staff were pleasant, in particular the young lady who checked us in and who was extremely helpful and ensured, after a mix-up, that we had off-street parking. Breakfast was adequate although it would be nice to have at least another 30 minutes as they clear up around 9am. Great place to meet some interesting people and we had a nice chat around the breakfast table with guests from Germany, Spain and Poland. Room and bathroom were nice and warm and it was only a short walk to public transport and local dining options.

Pension (lodging) - Good B&B - Not 3-Star hotel
If it is publicized as B&B it is really a great place and highly recommended. But it is NOT a 3-Star hotel, as appears on hotels.com. As for breakfast, it should include more variety instead of the same stuff every morning. It is relatively basic compared with 3-Star hotels in Hungary.

This hotel is very quiet. The rooms are Spartan but comfortable. The air conditioning work sporadically making it uncomfortable on hot days. Very nice breakfasts

Don’t expect too much - very basic accommodation
The check-in process was relatively painless, but it was unnecessarily slow. The room I booked was a standard room and as per the description on the website, it had a balcony and a in-room safe, but it had neither. I didn’t mind the lack of a balcony, seeing that I visited in January, but a safe would have come in handy. The bathroom is very basic and only a bar of soap is provided, so you’ll need to get your own shampoo, shower gel, etc... The toilet in the bathroom was squeezed in between the radiator and the shower tray, so you end up either burning your leg, or having to sit with one leg in the shower. The location of the hotel is fairly convenient and the tram is just about a hundred metres away. On the 2nd day of my stay I slipped and fell on the wooden stairs leading to the reception area from the corridor. They were just recently mopped and there was no wet floor sign displayed. I ended up hurting my knee and having a limp for a few days. When I complained to the manager/owner he was apologetic, but I left with a feeling that more could have been done. Overall I would not recommend this hotel - for a couple of euros more there are much nicer hotels nearby. Abel Pension might be a good alternative to a hostel, if you want a little more privacy.

Pension for the pensioners
Plus points - Very good location , close proximity to the Metro and Tram Stations and restaurants - Room was spacious and clean Cons - Breakfast wasn't great - very limited choice and doesn't even have a toaster! Room had Air condition fitted but no remote and only works during certain time as the control is from outside. They purposely switch off the mains probably to save cost.I wonder what was the point of putting a Air condition when you cannot use it!! So if you are planning a trip during peak summer please keep this in mind.

interesting hotel
limited on-street parking and first glance looked like someones house not a hotel. staff was very nice and accommodating. other than air conditioning turning off at 10pm, the room was very nice. having windows helped keep the room at a comfortable temperature.

A Uniquely Charming Home in a Quiet Neighborhood
This hotel is more like a privately owned mansion than hotel. It was built around 1913 and the furniture still reflects this charming taste. It is more of a bed and breakfast type place than a traditional hotel. You feel more at home than in a hotel. It has 10 rooms and although I only saw just one and stayed in it, it is clear with the 2 or 3 floors the rooms are somewhat different; as you may notice from the photos on the website. The owners are very kind, and they have some drinks at the entry including water and sodas (in the kitchen fridge), and some spirit (hard liquor) in the main entrance. The breakfast table is a large beautiful table and you can have breakfast at any time between 7:30-9 in the morning. Yes, you will sit with others at the same table. Visitors tend to keep to themselves, but you can chat with them as well. It is an endearing experience. The breakfast is repetitive: a humble selection of 3 hams, 3 pepperonis type meat, 6 slices of two types of cheeses/person. I believe you can ask for more, but I never needed more. There is cold and hot milk, amazing coffee, tea, and orange and peach juices. The couple of baskets of bread every morning is fresh and really tasty. They never run of it! There is also some yogurt and two types of cereals. If you are looking for the traditional high rise hotel with and 24 hr desk service, and a happening outdoors within a block, then this place is not for you. If you like the home feel, Abel Penzion is perfect!

A little tired ..but still charming.
The pension is good value for the money. Bed was hard... and very low to the ground. No elevator, so if you are hauling a great deal of heavy luggage this is not the place for you. It was very dated.. shower curtains need replacing, cupboards are old. Towels were great! You could also get them to do laundry.

Pest Vs. Buda side????
I felt the hostess was awesome very helpful the place was old and bedspread could be updated it was off the beaten path in Pest University District the room I had was #2 and the main entry room was near my door entrance. You could hear cars on this street because traffic would cut through also the main street Szuret Utca tram was down construction and a replacement bus dropped a bit far off from location at night having to carry my luggage from the main tram area, was a bit of a struggle for me so travel light. People were kind at breakfast. Not sure what other rooms looked like if you don't want to stay in Buda with all the noise this place will be better and very green etc. I would advise not to take room #2 only if you cannot go up stairs otherwise if you are sound sensitive not a good choice off the main entrance dinning area the kept room clean and bed made nice people working here.

Very welcoming small and friendly hotel.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff especially Dora were delightful and most helpful. The room was comfortable and the breakfast although unremarkable was all we needed to start the day. Conveniently situated in a quiet street 2 min from the 61 tram we could be in downtown Budapest in 15 mins. Beautiful city with fabulous vantage points to enjoy the views. The transport system is superb and very easy to negotiate with announcements in English as well as Hungarian. I would recommend a visit to Budapest and if you want a budget hotel the Abel Pension is difficult to beat.

Quirky
A quirky place for those who like something a little different from the typical hotel experience. We were well looked after for the 2 nights we were there. Fine old building with lots of character, run by a very nice, professorial gentleman. Free Internet. The "parking" mentioned on the website turned out to be anywhere in the street where you could find a space - about 100m away in our case, so not too bad.

Great location and quiet
Very clean and comfortable room. Staff are very helpful if you had any specific request they would try to fulfill it. Despite of the central location of the accomodation it is a very quiet area.

Very pleasant.
The people were very nice. My room was big. It was the family room. I may have gotten because I booked late. The breakfast was good, a lot of food. Every room got their own plate of meat, cheese and vegetables, (I got more cheese because I don't eat meat.) There were lots of different kinds of bread and yoghurt, muesli and other cereal, coffee, tea, and juices. Breakfast was a pretty strict 7-9. Available in the the fridge for anytime was mineral waters, soda and beer. You were just to write down what you took. Also some liquor was available. I don't know what they charged for that. I took two waters and a beer and they ended up giving it as a gift. There was a porch and a yard you could sit in. Not right in the center, but there was a tram a block away. Only a problem if you stay out late. One night I took a taxi which was not expensive. The other night I walked a bit to the all night tram and then a little bit from it to the panzio (pension). Very pleasant overall.

Et godt sted at overnatte
Huset er gammelt og slidt, men alt er pænt og rent. Den eneste ulempe var, at aircon ikke kører når temperaturen udenfor er 27° og derunder, det var nogle varme nætter.
