Lovely location, historic property and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Although the property needs a bit of tlc the rooms are spotlessly clean, beds comfortable and towels and bed linen first rate. Breakfast is certainly a cut above with great ingredients and perfect portions. We will certainly stay again.

A very historic hotel dating back well prior to Cromwell. The room was charming and the knight in armor in the reception area and swords over the fireplace with ancient oak mantelpiece in the restaurant was really nice as was the breakfast

4/10 Fair

We were given Room 8 - up 2 flights of stairs, then a third set that was so narrow is was so hard taking luggage up there Not really impressed with staff Tables in the dining room at breakfast were not cleared quickly, at all, after diners left, yet staff entered the room and looked around No personality in this place - staff could change this almost instantly Room adequate for the age of the building The day we left 2 customers were feeding their 2 dogs (Labradors) from the meal they had ordered - yuk!

Very dog friendly!
Great staff always makes your stay more enjoyable and we certainly enjoyed our stay! They made a big fuss of our dog (Zeus) and made us cocktails that weren't on the menu. Great breakfast and good menu. A very lively bar as it seems to be the hub of the village, the only downside was our window was next to the kitchen extractor so we had a 7am wake up call each morning so avoid room 10 if you can!

Lovely Hotel with your dog
Great food, great atmosphere, suitable location, ideal hotel for having your dog stay. Based on the age of the property, the upkeep of maintenance seems to be important to them. Stairs a little steep but plenty of character in the hotel and rooms. Great value for money.

Small bedroom with noisy extractor fan outside.
Reception staff and waitress at breakfast were great but the room was small and needed a decor upgrade. The worst thing was it was so hot and there was a noisy extractor fan going until 11pm at night which started around 7 am next morning. It was right outside bedroom window. We complained about this to reception on check out and they said they would tell manager. For £130 I felt the room was poor.
