Great location
Great location and great bones, just needs a little updating… Stains in the carpeting and for $300 a night it would be expected to be in a little better shape

Probably excellent when renovations completed….
Arrived at night and lighting from garage along Marion Square was almost nonexistent! Brick walkway made a treacherous walk to check in.
Breakfast offered was varied and delicious.

Overdue remodel
I love Embassy Suites but this one is in need of an upgrade. Beds were comfortable but the carpet, walls, etc were really worn out. Very nice people, just overdue some remodeling.

From the moment I stepped out of my car . .
The tone for my entire stay was set when the friendly hotel valet (Shelton) said “Welcome to Charleston” the moment I stepped out of my car! The entire staff was helpful and friendly! The building is amazing and beautiful with so much history and the hotel is located within walking distance of so many great places to eat, shop, and sight see in historic Charleston. The other valet (Don) wished me safe travels as I departed from the hotel. Top notch employees! I really enjoyed my stay from arrival until departure!

Excellent location!
The hotel is old but the location is perfect: one block away from King Street and one block away from the Charleston Visitor Center. The room carpet needs to be replaced.

Hotel needs a HUGE makeover!
Old hotel that needs a huge makeover. 1 tv didn't work, every time we walked on the floor you could here the ventilation system. AC didn't blow cold air and their fix was to turn it off.

Does not always have parking
We arrived around 9:00 at night and the check in clerk says their valet parking is full so I will have to find my own parking. A Friday night, in Charleston, in town.... I said well that is something you should let people know ahead of time, that your "free parking" may not be available. She hands me a preprinted card with parking garage name and address, so apparently this is common. I asked if they would validate the charges she said nope and sent me on my way.

My only complaint was the hotel restaurant dissappeared between our last visit 15 yrs ago and this time. We prefer eating in our hotel at night. That said, the morningbreakfast was awesome.

Terrible upkeep
Hotel was dirty, old and gross. Something was missing in the room and they did nothing about it. This hotel probably would be amazing if they took care of it. Instead, it reminds me of a haunted house..
