Good, but dated
The room was nice - fairly big and comfortable. A trouser-press, but no fridge, which was disappointing. Water pressure good and hot. Shower over a bath, which isn't ideal for elderly people, although handrails are provided. The mattress was firm, which we like, but a little hard - a topper would have helped. The hotel is pleasant, but a bit dated. It's a good location - fairly quiet and easy to find. The staff were friendly and polite. Breakfast has a good selection, although the full English is clearly not cooked to order - items had been kept warm for some time. Reasonable value for money, but would have liked a fridge, more comfortable mattress and a breakfast that was fresher.

Pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. I had asked for extra pillows but only 4 were provided, which is usually standard in a hotel. There were no softer pillows available.

Classic style hotel, looking a bit tired
It's a reasonable Hotel is quite a nice location it's just looking fairly run down. We had our Christmas Party here 6 years ago and it looks pretty much the same but just more tired and old. Staff were generally friendly and service was ok. Cleanliness in the hotel was ok. Sleep quality was fairly good, the room was a bit cold. Tap water came out nice and hot but the shower could only do freezing cold or cold (Room 201).

Not much sleep
Could not fault it accept I could hear the man above me going to the toilet in the middle of the night and getting back in bed. The bed squeaking. Then getting woke up every morning at 6.15 when he got up could hear him using the toilet shower and opening and closing draws. My bed was very squeaky also every time I moved

Room was nice staff were friendly , but there was a horriable smell that made you feel sick smelt like sewage or something in the lobby and corridors which was off putting . The breakfast was over priced and the bacon was rock hard and looked like it had been warmed up in the microwave and eggs were over cooked . So disappointing . I stayed here for five nights. The first night I was woken every two hours from midnight onward by a dog barking in an adjacent room, it turns out the hotel is 'pet friendly'. The staff were able to give me another room but once there the noise came from other guests slamming doors well into the night. The first room was very basic. No fridge in which to keep food or drink. Bathroom was okay, lots of hot water and a good shower. Second room was in better decorative condition but still no fridge. The hotel is somewhat isolated so unless you drive elsewhere you have to eat in the hotel. The only other option within walking distance is a Burger King about a mile away.I had breakfast on the first morning but didn't bother afterward. 'Variety' boxes of children's cereal (sugary and inedible) are not my thing so I had a cheese omelette which was overcooked and so heavy I couldn't finish it. I blame myself for not checking reviews before booking (I was in a hurry). I suppose the (low) room rate reflects what you get for the money. It's okay for a single night perhaps but not really for me.
