Shame
Disappointing stay (Joss room) which was a shame as location was perfect for me. Shower was broken, was offered communal shower but on close inspection I decided not to use. Blind in room doesn’t close properly, lots of light coming in, very noisy fountain out front which you can still hear with windows closed. Very poor Wi-Fi. Pub itself was lovely, staff friendly, no food on Mondays though.

Happy customer
Amazing stay, staff were very polite and helpful. Room was immaculate, bed very comfy. Only downside was no fry up available on the Sunday morning. They did however provide a continental style breakfast. Added plus was one of the bar staff dropped me back to my car which was left at a wedding venue 5 miles away.

The staff are extremely efficient, pleasant and welcoming. The lodge and room cleanliness is outstanding, however lack of evening meal on premises is disappointing. Meals finish at 5.30 I believe which is not great as there is no restaurant or alternate facilities within walking distance. This would not prevent me from staying at The white Stag Lodge in the future. Thanks to all

Our room was bright, nicely decorated and clean with a comfy bed, however it was very small as was the ensuite. It was adequate for an overnight stay as we only had small bags but there would not have been anywhere to put a larger suitcase. The breakfast basket was left outside our room in the morning was a little disappointing .

2/10 Poor

I booked two deluxe rooms. One room was fine, spacious with an en-suite but the other was poor, very small, unable to open a suitcase on the floor, no en-suite, bathroom was down the corridor. Bed linen was shabby and cheap. Certainly not “deluxe”. How the hotel can charge the same price for these two rooms is beyond belief. I bumped into the chef in his full chefs whites at 7am when I was coming out from the toilet in my nightie. Had I known I had a trip down the corridor I would’ve brought slippers and a dressing gown. My husband had to get dressed to pee in the night. I think the bathroom is described as “private” but there is nothing private about it and it only locked from the inside so you couldn’t leave anything in it. Breakfast was poor, in a box left on the floor outside the room. A hard croissant, a long life croissant and a fight with my husband over who got the banana which was straight out of the fridge. I felt that the chef was slightly overdressed for such fare, delusions of grandeur maybe. The other room had bottled water but ours didn’t. The only staff around were two teenage girls who were delightful but a bit inexperienced. My brother in law was asked to get out of the shower as they had a leak downstairs. Overall a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Wished I could just move in.
The Hotel, the beds, the service, the food, the owner, the Rum, the staff, the local customers & everything is 100% perfect. The Sunday Lunch is absolutely unbeatable. On top of all of that Sunday Evening, Roast Potatoes on the bar. Amazing. Oh and the Rum :-)

Would be happy to visit again
Great stay overall. Probably pushing it as a family of 4 but it worked for the short time we were in the area (and it was the booking agent that let me book for us all) My kids loved the breakfast baskets and everything was clean so no complaints.
