You sent me an email saying the kitchen was shut and only continental breakfast was available so I nearly cancelled and ate somewhere else before I got to the hotel. The kitchen was open and I could have eaten there. Really disrupting to my plans.

Great stay
Tucked away and an absolute gem. Enjoyed our stay, even a fire alarm didn’t deter from the quality! Little bit older world style that may not suit everyone, but the service was excellent and the surroundings were even better.

Old and bad service
The hotel is old and not updated. Our room didn’t get cleaned on any day (it was a 2 day stay) although we left the room at 9 am and returned for 1 hour mid afternoon when they wanted to clean it, I have asked for a later return and they haven’t returned. It was dark and dump and there was some mould. The bed is really small and the mattress is worn out. The room was awfully cold and workers were talking loudly in front of our door since 8 am. The breakfast had an ok cooked part and very bad non cooked. Staff talking loudly as there were no costumers around. Food menu at the bar was extremely limited and we waited long to hear the options as no menu available. The worst part was that checkout is 11 am and they tried to charge us £10 for extra hour, although no one informed or reinforced that upon check in. The whole thing felt unwelcoming. I know it used to be a good hotel, so I’m sorry to see the way it went.

Weekend Break
Room was reasonably clean. Issues we had was fire alarm testing at 1 in the morning. Room not made up on Saturday. Key card didn't always work. Breakfast which we thought was included was an extra £14.95 each per day. Tea tray not kept stocked. Had to request extra supplies.

Would not book this dated hotel ever again. We stayed 2 nights and had 3 rooms.. we did think about checking out on the first night. The place is so dated and unclean, the staff are very young and seem to lack experience in customer services

Undeserving of the location - disappointing.
This is such a disappointing hotel. It's in the most perfect location and has the potential to be a really exclusive venue for weddings and short breaks. Sadly, the devor and whole vibe doesn't seem to have evolved in several decades. Finding our room was a nuisance as it wasn't well sign-posted and it smelt very badly stale and of cigarettes. It was on the ground-floor as we have a dog, so i assume smokers' stand just outside the room. There were some sachets of instant coffee, but not even one teabag. Towels also smelt stale. It's an adequate place if the price is low, but it could be so much more impressive. It feels like a real waste considering the gorgeous surroundings.
