I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay at this property, particularly in how they unjustly withheld my deposit over something as trivial as dirty towels. Nowhere in the deposit agreement does it state that a deposit will be retained for soiled linens, especially when such items can and should be properly sanitized through standard cleaning practices, such as bleaching. As a hotel, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene should be part of routine maintenance, not a reason to withhold funds from guests.
What is even more troubling is that while I was penalized for dirty towels, the condition of the room itself was far from acceptable. The bedspread had visible cigarette burns, and the bathtub leaked so severely that every time I took a shower, the floor became flooded, creating a potential safety hazard. It is alarming that such issues were overlooked, yet the focus was on keeping my deposit over something as easily fixable as dirty towels.
The deposit terms clearly state that it is to cover damage to the property, not routine cleaning needs, leading me to believe this hotel is deliberately seeking reasons to unjustly retain guests’ deposits. This practice not only undermines trust but is entirely inconsistent with the standards I expect from Choice Hotels.
I will be escalating this matter to corporate, as this experience was highly uncharacteristic of the quality and professionalism typically associated with the brand.
