This was a beautiful getaway in the heart of Beaujolais, Beaujolais, surrounded by beautiful grounds and rolling hills lined with vines. The staff we extremely friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible.
Our room was large and we felt we were transported back in time, with arrow slits in our separate living room and a throne toilet.
Dinner, although no longer the same Michelin menu and the same choices for lunch, was an extremely good attempt to regain their star. The sommelier in particular was very friendly and knowledgeable.
The only downside was that despite being in the middle of Beaujolais, there were not many options for doing vineyard tours, especially over a weekend or if you are only in a two. And if you were staying for more than a couple of nights, the dining options were very limited. We were recommended a very good restaurant in a nearby village less than 10 mins drive away, but cost us a EUR50 taxi. And by 10pm, no taxi companies were picking up the phone to take us back. The waitress had to drive us. Difficult to get around if you're planning on sampling wines and therefore not driving.
Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay, but baffled by the lack of options if you were not driving (particularly when in the wine region!)
