Great location to stay if visiting Mt Cook
Valley view room was superb, room clean and comfortable. Would have given 5 stars across the board however, still some issues they need to work out regarding their heater and telephone. Heater stopped working after we came back from dinner, luckily we found some extra blankets to keep us warm overnight. Phone was not working either.

Great position and stunning views
Beautiful view of the mountains from the balcony. Motel style with bar and restaurant. Room was nice, reception area had an awful smell, not sure what is was, possibly the carpet. However, we were not staying in reception! So overall a nice property.

Loved it
We really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms seem updated and clean, and had great views (the front rooms have a better view of the mountains of course). Also the on site restaurant was perfect for dinner.

My room had a stunning view of the mountains. You should ask for a room that faces the mountains. The room was modern and very nice.

The motel staff was great ! They definitely need to think of a shuttle to go to and from motel to Hermitage specifically for senior travellers. Hermitage average service inspire of making a reservation for dinner they messed it up. Had a similar experience for the experience booked but Sophie was great there and sorted out the issue quickly.

Our valley view room has the best sunset view of Mt Cook. Very modern and clean room. Comfortable beds. Easy access to all the attractions in the park. Had breakfast buffet every day, well worth the money!

Motel room with a gorgeous view. Comfy bed, decent shower. Noise from others was not an issue for us. For breakfast and lunch options you have to go to the Heritage, which is a 10-minute walk.

Very comfortable rooms with modern fittings, perfect for 1-2 nights. Staff were friendly and the building feels quite new. Downsides were that breakfast is not on site despite there being a restaurant upstairs (which was good for casual dinner), the shower is too low for tall people to stand underneath, no lamps / dimmable lights in the room, and had an issue where there were no parking spots left so had to use a disabled bay. Would still recommend to stay here.

Heads up for travelers in the area
I wanted to give a warning to anyone who might stay in the area. If you plan on eating dinner here I would try and pack something or stop in another city before getting to mount cook. I tried to eat at the sister restaurant which had 2 people in the entire room and they told me the soonest they could sit me was 2+ hours later, so I ate at the restaurant at mount cook and it was terrible but there are no other options. I was told there was breakfast at the other place as well but for the price I just drove away the next morning and found something an hour away. In addition, the parking situation doesn't seem to have enough spaces for cars that will be parking at the lodge. I watched multiple cars circle 3-4 times until someone left. The way the parking lot is shaped is also odd because it appears you can circle the lot but you end up in the back of the hotel where you have to maneuver in order to back up. There isn't an elevator either so I had to drag my suitcase upstairs. If you're of limited mobility there isn't an option for how to get to the second floor aside from the steps. Which is odd considering their lot has 4 handicap spaces. Overall, this stay was fine for one night in which I hiked in the area. I intended to do a tour but unfortunately that was cancelled due to weather. I think in the future I would stay in a neighboring city instead.

Comfortable and quiet
Mt Cook Lodge was surprisingly pleasant. I wasn't expecting much but the room was well fitted and quiet, and the bathroom was spacious and had heated floors which would be very good in winter. The cafe was a bit pricey but the food was very good. The walks were great fun and the views amazing but unfortunately the glaciers are receding rapidly and icebergs in the lakes are very small. I suggest you stay here a night or two and see them as soon as possible before they're gone forever.
