The Biltmore hotel DTLA
The Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles is a stunning property with a rich history and gorgeous architecture. From the moment I walked into the lobby, I was impressed by the timeless elegance and grandeur of the space. The staff was attentive and welcoming, and the central location made it incredibly convenient to explore the city. However, one downside of my stay was that my room was a connecting room. Unfortunately, I could clearly hear the conversation from the guests in the adjoining room, which disrupted the otherwise peaceful experience. While this may not be an issue for all rooms, it’s something to consider if privacy and quiet are important to you. Overall, the Biltmore offers a memorable and luxurious experience, but I’d recommend requesting a non-connecting room for a more serene stay.

I had a one night, solo stay here at the Biltmore for Dodger’s World Series parade. Everyone was fantastic, from valet, to front desk, to housekeeping. All made my stay the very best it could be. I was a bit put off by the notion I had to pay an additional $30 to have a late checkout. 1 pm instead of noon. This mind you because of the parade. Even though I could have checked out at no additional charge at noon, hotel officials indicated there was no way to leave the hotel due to street closures and crowd clearing. Rather than take the opportunity to accommodate me, they charged me. All good, the place is beautiful, historic, and very well maintained. May think twice about coming here for next year’s World Series parade though.

Enjoyable history, less enjoyable stay
I stayed at this hotel because it was the site of a conference I recently attended. My experience and therefore this review will be mostly blah or negative, so let me start with the positive: If you like historical architecture and learning about early Hollywood, then this is a neat place to visit. The indoor pool was neat, and some of the meeting spaces had ornate ceilings and light fixtures which reminded me of Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA. It's also worth noting that the staff was friendly, and I heard other guests express excitement that the hotel was supposedly haunted. However, I found very little else enjoyable. Things I didn't appreciate: 1. The hotel location: It was a pain to navigate to it in downtown LA, and the parking structure is old and also difficult to navigate. If your vehicle is taller than 6'4", you may not clear the self-parking and may have to do valet, which is another expense. The surrounding area feels unsafe, especially after sunset, which made me feel trapped in the hotel. 2. The room: My room was on the 11th floor, which I thought maybe meant it was fancy, but the mirror had part of its frame broken off, the bathroom sink wobbled, and the shower head made a very strange noise when I ran the water. Perhaps worse was that the AC definitely did not work very well, which meant I had a hard time falling asleep in a warm, stuffy room. 3. The conference site layout: I didn't love how spread out the spaces were for the conference.
