"The hotel is charming and cozy. Its location in the historic district is perfect -- it's an easy walk to historic sites, shops, restaurants. The 5-night-a-week wine & cheese musical gatherings are a nice touch.
There is no breakfast room in the hotel, but nearby eateries open as early as 6:30 a.m.
My room was comfortable, roomy, and cozy. Some may have a fridge but mine did not. For me, that was not an issue. It would have been nice, though, to have a daily carafe of bottled water in the room like many old European inns do.
My room looked out onto the nearby parking garage. For me, not an issue since at night the blackout curtains were closed and in the daytime, the light filtering shades were always down.
I was unhappy, however, that there were no grab bars in the shower/bathtub. I am not disabled but I am elderly, and stepping in and out of the tub after my shower felt unsafe. In fact, even if I weren't elderly it would still feel unsafe. When I mentioned this to my family, they we're concerned and felt that this may even be a safety violation.
I don't know whether the hotel offers "accessible" accommodations that meet safety standards, but in my view every bathroom in that hotel should have at least one grab bar in the shower.
I would go back to the Planters Inn again if I were ever to go back to Savannah, but only if they had an "accessible" room available."
