What are the highlights and features of La Cantera?
Golfing is one of the many highlights of La Cantera, but there’s plenty to do if you’re not planning a tee off. Enjoy some amusement park fun at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, one of the most popular theme parks in the USA. The 81-acre complex has 20 thrilling rides, including a 4D free-fly coaster, steep waterslides, and one of the world’s tallest pendulum rides. There’s also a waterpark that’s great for cooling off in the Texas summer.
The Shops at La Cantera is around 1.5 miles south of Six Flags Fiesta Texas. This open-air mall is one of San Antonio’s most luxurious retail centres, featuring over 160 stores across its 1.2-million-sq-ft space. You can find Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Macy's among its major anchors, as well as a wide range of restaurants, several children's play neighborhoods, and a full spa center.
What are the best golf courses in La Cantera?
La Cantera has many excellent golf courses, some of which are part of the La Cantera Resort & Spa. The Resort Course at La Cantera is a par 72 golf course designed by architect Jay Morrish and PGA Tour professional Tom Weiskopf. It has 6 holes with sweeping views of the Texas Hill Country, thanks to its 80‐ft drop from the 7th tee to the fairway.
Designed by award-winning designer Arnold Palmer, The Palmer Course at La Cantera is an 18-hole golf course spanning 225 acres of Texas Hill Country’s terrain. There’s plenty of elevation changes, mature oaks, dramatic waterfalls, lakes, and white sand bunkers across the golf course. Its rather affordable twilight rate makes it great for a tee-off before dinnertime.
The Cedar Creek Golf Course is one of San Antonio’s oldest, having opened in 1989. Designed by Finger Dye Spann, the golf course has 4 tee boxes ranging between 5,500 yards and 7,100 yards, with dramatic elevation changes in its layout.
