The lights across the bund seem to get switch off at 10pm (at least on weekdays). A bit tricky to get vegan food - do research! The tap water apparently is not safe to drink but bottled water is really cheap - and so is beer!

Fantastic city that I would highly recommend everyone adds to their travel agenda. Easy to navigate, lots to see and everyone I encountered was friendly. Loved it and wish I had had longer than just 3 days there.

Wonderful city - very safe and easy to get around with Didi and Metro. Many historical building sites still standing majestically in the former foreign concessions. The bund is a must see sight!

It's easy to get around the city with the metro system being so widespread. The younger folks are able to speak English to varying degrees, which is a bonus for tourists from overseas.

See my review - spend some time in the French Concession, after a day or two on the Bund. And download the Smart Shanghai app. Very helpful, all in English!

We tried to visit Yuyuan Garden near the Temple of City Gods at ~4:30. We got deceived by both traffic warden and ticket seller. They convinced us to buy tickets while the garden was closed. We don't have to buy lantern show tickets to visit Garden
"Overall a very satisfying stay. Very convenient location to everything and a subway station close by. Breakfast was good with variety of options. Front office staff was very helpful and even packed a breakfast on the day we were leaving as we had a very early train journey. Room was cleaned very well and cleaner did an excellent job. Only negative was the room view as we were not on a high enough floor to get a good view. We could only see the street and building next to us."
