8/10 Very Good
Sep 24, 2018
Nice place, but not where it is supposed to be.
Ok, there is both good and bad with this Hotel. Let's start out with the good. The price was good. The room was clean. The room looked nice. The décor was nice. The view from the Balcony in my room was nice, but the view really depended on the weather. if the weather was bad, you could not see the mountains and were just stuck seeing other buildings It had hot water and decent water pressure. The staff was nice but spoke no English.
Now for the Bad: On hotels.com, the map shows the hotel being close to the train station in Zhangjiajie. In reality, the hotel is more than 1.5hrs away from the city on the Western edge of the Park in a real small town (see pic - red heart). The roads getting to the hotel were crappy for at least 1/2 way. I think the taxi to the Hotel from the airport cost almost 200rmb. We were planning on doing Tianmen Mt. the first day and then go to Wulingyuan to enter that side of the park, however, considering there is no way to drive through the park, going from this hotel to Wulingyuan would take 4+ hours. So, we actually stayed here 2 nights and saw this side of the park and then went back to Zhangjiajie city and found a hotel down there before going to see Tianmen Mt. Not having this hotel in the proper place made it so I was not able to see several places I had planned on, like the tallest glass bridge and some other stuff. Had I known the actual location I would have selected a different hotel.
