To our surprise, no one in the hotel spoke English. We received no directions on how to get to the hotel or the address in Chinese despite having asked for it. When we arrived in Dazhai, I managed to get through to someone who spoke English and who said the hotel would send a car for us. 20 minutes later they called us that the car broke down and if we want to cancel the reservation it's OK... We had to carpool with local to the hotel.
Upon arrival they could not locate our reservation in the system and eventually just gave us a random room for the same price. The owner did not speak a single word English. When using a translator we asked if they haveaybe a map of the area or recommendations on what viewing points to go to, we were basically laughed at and told that it's not safe to walk around (when the whole point of going to longji is hiking among the rice fields).
The room itself was nice, but there was no hot water running in the shower and we had to shower with cold water both days. Breakfast was supposed to be included but we onyl got a choice of two meals that were tthe cheapest on the menu.
At night the hotel had nice views from the terrace and gave us a car ride to the Tiantouzhai parking lot on our last day (as it's almost impossible to walk down that road), so there were some bright moments.
