This hotel was really disapppointing. It was billed as one of the nicest hotel’s in Brazil, with great service and food. While the building itself is nice, the staff was less than helpful. They have afternoon tea until 6pm and twice we showed up towards the end and it was already all done and the door was locked to the room (with people still inside finishing their drinks). One night we came back and there was no one at the front desk. I went behind to find the receptionist and he was sleeping on a couch. I just grabbed the key myself. When we asked for tourist information about basic things, the receptionist didn’t have any idea or suggestions. She just told us to go to a tourist office and ask them. She couldn’t even be bothered to look up the information online. On our checkout, the doorman gave me the key to my car and instructed me to walk across the hotel and get my car myself in the garage. Also, there’s no restaurant. They only serve breakfast (which is fine, but average) and the tea, which we never got to try. May seem like little things, but I was expecting something on par with other high end hotels. It just wasn’t. If that’s what you’re expecting, save yourself the money and stay at a different hotel.
