The biggest disappointment was the false advertising. The photos and description made it sound like it was on a beach or close to a beach and the photos gave the impression that the rooms had some sort of scenic view. Which all did not happen. The beach is a 15 minute boat ride, the room looked out to construction sites and swaps, and the entire area around the property was under construction. We tried to upgrade and were ready to pay money to have a better room, and the staff made it clear that wasn’t an option. They offered us the same room on a different street which has the same view. The staff was stuck up, not accommodating and honestly just dry. Definitely not the Belizean culture. The common areas were basic, the gym was 1/3 of the size of the photos, and the pool did not have a view as it looked. So basically lots of false advertising. We couldn’t cancel so booked a different hotel with a beach front casita and it was just what we flew across countries to get to. With that said, the beach club was a 10/10 and did not feel at all related to the experience we got at the hotel. If they offered the beach club as a separate fee, I would go back just for that.

The front desk never answered the phones when I needed assistance. It’s about a 15 minute walk from my room to the lobby and even while waiting inside they never answered phones. At one point I got Locked out of my room and it took over 30 minutes to get help. One of the managers at check in told me he would make sure I had Transportation and he was gone an hour later and they told me that wasn’t an option for me any longer. I was Super u happy with the service although the property was nice

2/10 Poor

I was expecting to experience a nice time and leisurely visit near the water but boy is this far from the truth. To begin, the lack of air conditioning where we stayed destroyed any enjoyment of relaxation possible. There are literally no windows that completely close in the unit. They are made of wood with multiple panels. There is always air coming in from the outside. A lot of them are broken. You can't leave the bathroom door or the shower door open without the heat pouring into the room so if you forget, it's all over. The heat doesn't dissipate. It's miserable. The air conditioning works but definitely not enough. All of the rooms are like this. There is no glass or insolation to keep the heat out and the cool in. Awful, awful design flaw. When we got in the room the safe didn't work, the TV was glitchy with the cable provided, the water pressure was off, the lamp was broken and had an exposed wire hanging off of it where the bulb connects. You are not close to anything good. It's like a prison and the only way to get out of it is to spend more money and waste more time. It was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. Also there are mosquitos galore inside the check in area and about the property as it is located on the swamp side of San Pedro. Their private beach is infested with sea lice so that is completely unenjoyable. The beach chairs are broken. The property is a dump. They won't refund for early checkout. Do not stay here. You will regret it!

I enjoyed staying at this property and I will say the staff and food was great. Some inconsistency when it came to service and quality of food but I have to give a big thank you to Miguel ( server at Shaken) who was great, very attentive and gave good recommendations for breakfast. For dinner menu, I highly recommend the cevice. BRING BUG SPRAY. I got bit so many times at the resort by the pool mainly and the flies love to come around when you get your food. It was definitely a downside of my stay and I am not sure they are doing anything about it. There was spray avail at the bar but by then it was too late in my case. I have to note the private beach is 15 min away via boat. Nice but water is not deep enough to swim. Ceviche there is not as great but drinks and other food is great. Also, it was hard to stay in a room with NO full length mirrors...my friend's room did not have one either, so I guess that's a thing as well.

The only reason It’s not all five star is because of the mosquitos. They ate us up anyplace we didn’t put bug spray. Even under my clothes. Every thing else was a tropical dream. Very lovely. Staff was very courteous and friendly.

Worse stay
It was the most unpleasant stay I had, the room was service on the third day, there was mosquitos inside the room, inside the shower area, TV 📺 not working properly. On the last day reception order us a taxi, the driver was rude to us because the hotel give him the wrong drop off, also the service was changed 3 times the amount of local taxis.

6/10 Good

The good: Beautiful property with amazing wood built into the rooms. Mostly friendly staff. Multiple options for dining. Safe and secure resort. Great private island! The bad: There are an insane amount of mosquitoes especially near townhomes and snack huts. I know this is an island, but I LITERALLY got 5 new bites every time I entered or exited my room. They desperately need to spray. The ugly: Rude and dismissive attitude from management. Michael W (Concierge manager) helped check my husband and I in and even helped show us to our room. Unfortunately our air conditioning was not working and showed a room temp of 30 degrees Celsius (86 F). My husband mentioned that it was hot, but Michael thought nothing of it, dropped our bags and left. We are very patient and decided to wait about 90mins to give the unit time to cool off the room, to no avail. We went to the front desk, where I saw Michael before he looked at me and then walked away. I caught up with him about how abnormally hot the room was, he stated I must not be familiar with the remote to work the air because it was likely just locked! I advised that I am quite familiar with the remotes /units and that was not the issue. He again stated that the remote must have accidentally been locked and I needed to notify the front desk staff. After 3 attempts to correct the issue, my husband spoke with Dalton and another staff member who were amazing and helped to change our room to one where the air was working properly.

The small cottages and the scenery was stunning. The private beach was amazing, the food was okay. My son loves the fries, and my wife loved the burger stand. Coffee was also great! Overall it was a great experience with the exception of the mosquitos. The mosquitos were the worst ever, my two year old son left with a minimum of 25 bites and most to his face. I had 30 mosquito bites and my wife had a few too. I felt like everytime we went outside we were attacked. We went through three cans of OFF and different kinds deep woods regular and an unscented version. This left us very uncomfortable. I purchased citronella bracelets thinking they would help also and it didn’t. One night we stayed up until 3am because there was some in the bedroom and we needed to get them before we went to sleep. This was the only issue of the property that left a bad taste.
