Ok accomodation
Good accommodation near the old town. Breakfast would have been better with more veggie options. There was meant to be a silent time between 9pm and 8am but it wasn’t in-forced so I got woken up a few times by selfish people

I loved that the rooms were quiet, clean, aircon worked well . Bathroom was clean. iWualai breakfast was decent. The only thing was that the wifi was a bit spotty. A bit far (walking wise) from center of Chiang Mai but not too bad. Close to night market. Excellent value.

Stayed here for only one night when we first arrived in Chiang Mai. Great option for anyone looking for an economical place to stay that is very clean, well-maintained, and has an incredible breakfast included!

Amazong all round. Staff are lovely and friendly, always on hand to help. Good with local information. Breakfast every morning is spot on and the coffee is always available and always delicious. Saturday night market right outside on the street which is amazing.

Worth trying the hotel .
It’s a good hotel for the price . Customer service people were very nice . The slippers they gave to wear inside the room are very very bad even with a drop of water on the floor and you’ll slip if you have those slippers on . Toilet paper was very very cheap kind it just sticks onto your hand . Tooth brush etc very not good at all . Breakfast buffet was mediocre for the price they charged and what other hotels offer , but on the whole Like I said the price you pay for the kind of hotel I will say I liked the hotel .

Great location, can easily walk to, like everything. Restaurants, laundry, bank, open street food, 7-11, salons, simply everything w/out need for taxi. Simple thing, but means a lot when hot and humid - free bottled water in cooler. Wonderful breakfast. We should have cancelled Bangkok visit and lengthened stay.

The condition is exactly the same as the photos shown on its website. The mostly appreciation is they provide drinks, fruits and snack all day long! Location is good, just 20 minutes walk into the old town and 5 mins. to the Chiang Mai gate. At the Chiang Mai gate, there are food stalls open at night until 11pm. I will stay at Iwualai Hotel again next time.

Excellent breakfast, staff was friendly except night staff was not helpful. Very convenient to Sat night market. Disliked the toilet and the smell it emits to the room Also disliked the weak shower and somewhat clogged sink, need some revamp.

My favourite budget hotel in Chiang Mai
I've stayed several times at this excellent property and I am sure I will do so again in the future. It hits ll the right buttons for me. Very fairly priced, the iWualai offer modern, simple, bu very comfortable rooms that really work, staff that fall over backwards to be welcoming and helpful, a super buffet breakfast in the trendy lobby, complimentary (good) coffee and chilled water 24 hours a day. The hotel has been well maintained over the year since I started staying here - something sorely missing at many budget properties in Thailand. Highly recommended

Fantastic budget hotel concept
My third one-night stay at this little gem five minutes walk from the old city gate, and each time it is a delight. The staff are super friendly, helpful and efficient, and the rooms have everything you need. Breakfast is great, and the lobby has 24-hour chilled water and (very good) coffee available. The ground floor rooms with a little patio are great as you can sit outside if you want to smoke, for example The lobby is the centre of activity, with the small swimming pool just off to one side. It all creates a great atmosphere of modernity and chic, but simple, style. And the hotel (unlike many budget offerings in Thailand) has been well-maintained since I first stayed over a year ago. It's hard to think of a better place for a stopover en route to somewhere else, or as a base if you plans in Chiang Mai have you out every day sightseeing in the area. Maybe if you want to chill out by a pool every day and relax, you may want to stretch the budget to a larger hotel with a bigger range of recreational options, but I shall certainly be back here again on future trips to CM

Booked a real charm without knowing
Amazing hotel, we were really impressed. After getting there we realized it is really conveniently located. We had at walking distance the night market, the car rental, and then the bus stop we had to take the last day. The staff is really professional, the facilities were neat, the restaurant really good, and we were surprised of the good security at the hotel also.

Fabulous modern boutique hotel in the city centre
Stayed here for one night on a recent swing through Thailand's wonderful north with a bunch of pals. One of them picked this hotel and what a lucky choice it turned out to be. I adored the place. It's a small, very modern, boutiquey sort of style, with simple cleanly-designed rooms that really work with a tiny balcony good enough for a smoke (but not for sitting out on). Best in-room wifi I've experienced in Thailand. Fabulous lobby with free coffee, water and snacks 24/24, and a simple buffet breakfast laid out in the morning, plus a tiny pool for those that need it. If you want a super luxury hotel for your stay in Chiang Mai, or a riverside resort, or a big pool area to relax at - then iWualai is not the place. But for a business trip or a couple of nights to see the sights or shop then I recommend this place highly. Couple of caveats: 1) tiny parking area for motorbikes and perhaps two cars 2) the Saturday night market is centred on Wualai road, so not sure what access would be like on Saturdays. I adored this place, and the price is very good indeed for what you get.
