I couldn’t help but feel nickel and dimed at B & Bee. The host charges for absolutely everything. I understand shuttle expenses are high on the island and water is probably scarce, but charging $40 US per person for a home-cooked meal is just excessive; not even the yacht club in town charges that. On both Tahiti and Mo’orea, our friendly hosts made surfboards and kayaks available at no cost. Here you must pay—which is even worse because you are trapped if you have no mode of transportation. You either have to rent a car or pay $30 each time you need to go anywhere ($60 round trip—even into town, which is only 5 miles away). Online it says “Fridge upon request,” but it will cost you $10 per day. The worst is the complimentary breakfast. The host says it will be ready at 8:30, but then doesn’t have it out until 9 or so—and it’s just bread with jam and fruit! One morning the host left at 8:15 to get bread then returned around 9 empty handed. Apparently, there were no fresh baguettes to be found so we had to eat his “emergency bread,” which was basically stale bread (think croutons). We each got two the size of a mini banana. Then he had the gall to try and charge us for an extra coffee that day (you only get 1 cup with breakfast—apparently, any more is an additional charge). After explaining that we were not aware of this charge—with our complimentary breakfast!—he reversed the fee, but it’s still irksome. Also, you're limited to 40-second showers, so be prepared.
