Hotel was undergoing a bad renovation. Elevators didn’t work. Carpet was dirty & smelled like old wine. It did have free parking, a decent location & laundry facilities. Guy at front desk was nice. Room was clean.

Avoid this place
Hatchway Hotel - Rockland, ME Hotel undergoing badly needed renovations. Elevator not working. (Three-story hotel.) No one on call in office after 4:00 pm. Room 237: Too small. Furniture dusty. Only one chair (two if you count the toilet). No rack for the suitcase (used the top of the chest of drawers.) No breakfast available. (How did I overlook that when choosing a place to stay?) Forget the pictures of the waterfront views. Our room featured the parking lot. I’m not usually picky about hotels, but this was bad. Glad we stayed only one night. Nice features: Staff was pleasant/helpful. Short walk to the Farnsworth and Lighthouse museums. The town has many nice restaurants, some within walking distance.

This hotel is HORRIBLE! There is not one thing I can say about this hotel that is even halfway decent. There is no front desk, just a bunch of plastic bins, and wires hanging down. The vending machine was EMPTY! The rugs were dirty. The balcony was useless, because of the out-hanging heating/cooling unit. Our room looked out at a huge pile of garbage that looked like old construction debris that was sitting for some time. The lobby was a joke, old crappy furniture and a small coffee area if you would call it that. Our curtains in our room didn’t fit the window and we couldn’t close them correctly to block out the light on the balcony that we couldn’t turn OFF! We talked to a local girl who worked in the hospitality industry and she asked us where we were staying…when we told her she just put her hand over her mouth. The owner should be ASHAMED to offer rooms for rent at the DESPICABLE place. DO NOT GO HERE!

The Light on the balcony stayed on and was bright and the curtains were lite so it was very bright in the room and we couldn't sleep. The AC apparently didn't work because it was hot in the room. No coffee maker in the room. The pillows were not comfortable at all. There was no mirror in the bathroom. I understand that it is a work in progress, but the room we got did not look like the pics online.

Good location and comfortable beds. Under construction/remodeling. No bathroom mirror, tv not connected, deadbolt didn’t work, curtains falling off, incomplete plumbing. Not sure this room should’ve been rented.

We recently booked a stay at this hotel, but to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. First off, the entire property appears to be a construction zone, with dust and debris all over the place. It became clear pretty quickly that the hotel should not be open to guests in its current state. The room we were assigned was far from what we expected. It was dirty, with visible dust and grime everywhere. The bedding looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned. To make matters worse, the sink in the “dinette” wasn’t even hooked up to water! It just sat there, unusable, without a drain or any way to get water out of it. The baseboard hadn’t even been installed. We felt like we had walked into an unfinished building site rather than a hotel. As if the room issues weren’t bad enough, the elevator was also broken, forcing us to lug our bags up several flights of stairs. After seeing the condition of the place, we decided we could not stay the night. Thankfully, the one saving grace was Alaina, the front desk associate. She was incredibly understanding and helpful. After explaining our concerns, she quickly processed a refund without any hassle. She was the only positive aspect of the entire experience. If you’re considering staying here, don’t! Until they finish construction and address the cleanliness issues, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Save yourself the trouble.

This property was under renovation and the room that we had was not complete. There was no TV, the drapes were just thrown over the rod, the floors were dirty there was at least an 2 inch gap on the bottom of the door allowing a lot of light in the room, and some of the staff were unprofessional. It was a lovely area and I hope once the renovation is complete they will correct some of this.

The hotel is still being remodeled. Our room was clearly not finished. No coffee maker, no hair dryer, no iron and ironing board. Could not access a hair dryer or ironing board on the property at all. This caused an issue as we had to get to an appointment early in the morning and could not iron or blow dry my hair. Hot water took forever to heat up. The remodel job seemed messy all over, even when it was supposed to be 'finished'. The staff seemed grumpy. The coffee in the morning was a small k cup maker. Great location but the place needs more work to bring it up to standards.

Hotel has only been opened a few weeks. I booked my stay well over a month ago. The lady at the desk was friendly. However, the room we booked had no air and the TV service was not working nor was the elevator. I would suggest to avoid at all cost!!

I do not like to leave negative reviews. However, people should be aware that this property is under renovation, and the renovations aren't very good. We had a room that was renovated that wasn't complete with open wiring and nonworking lights. Staff were not unfriendly, just not informed or able to help people with issues. I would not choose this area again.

Initially, GPS got me there, but signage was a banner at ground level near front entrance. Checkin was a bad experience. Elevator was out and we were given a third floor room at the be try back, room 350. My mother has a very difficult time with stairs. There was no offer for assistance or move rooms. The young man who checked us in can best be described as unhelpful and uncaring. I carried luggage up and down three flights of stairs dodging construction crews and equipment. Construction and cleaning were occurring on our floor. Blocked hallways, equipment in floor, and had to step around workers. Our balcony looked over a parking lot of piled up construction supplies and a dumpster. There was no notification on the website before purchase that a remodel was in progress. This was the worst experience I ever had in years of travel. I would not stay here. Future travelers be warned. Better planning of work crews and assistance with luggage up the stairs would have been appreciated.
