Breakast and Payment
Breakfast wasn’t exactly free. The hotel only gives one free breakfast in the hotel for each room. That means if 2 person has booked a room, breakfast will be charged for one person. This was told when checking in even though it was stated free breakfast in the booking. Either the wording on the website needs to change or the hotel needs to honor free breakfast for the number of persons on the booking.
Advisable to pay upfront so that hotels.com can help you in any payment discrepancies. Choosing the option to pay at the hotel resulted in a pre authorization amount of one night stay per room charged to my credit card, which has yet to be returned to me even though the hotel advised that the third party will return the money after informing them that the stay has completed. Brought up the issue with hotels.com, they say it is not their issue as I chose to pay at the hotel while the hotel claimed it is controlled by a third party in China who does the liaison with hotels.com and that they never took the money in the first place. At the end of the stay, the full sum of the stay was charged. This means I paid for an extra night stay for each of the 2 rooms booked.
Facilities in the room could do better but the hotel staff was kind enough to make a room change.
Overall an unpleasant experience for me even though the trip was meant for my parents and my relatives as I have to liaise so much in chinese to understand the situation though they did enjoy it at the end.
