Never again...
Room view was great, food in restaurant was ordinary and overpriced. When the food quality was mentioned to manager/owner he said, you don't know what you are talking about, he's a top quality chef...the way he said it was extremely rude. Top quality??? Not in my books, and I am an Italian trained chef!!

Very outdated and definitely not 4 star (maybe 2)
Very dated rooms in desperate need of refurbishment. Also there is no town water so the tap, shower and toilet water is dark green and not drinkable- advised of this at check in - wouldve been nice to know before booking as i wouldnt have stayed here. We were provided with ample bottled water at no charge which was appreciated but couldnt escape feeling of being dirty after a shower-- and my daughters refused to shower at all.... The restaurant service and quality is very good. Main benefit is its proximity to the port arthur historic site but realistically you could stay in Hobart and do a day trip or one night stopover max. We paid top dollar because of school holidays but next time would stay elsewhere.

2/10 Poor

Hospitality at its WORST
I booked the hotel for the night of 19Dec. Unfortunately, my flight to Tasmania was delay and landed 8 hours late at 930pm. Immediately, after I landed. I called the hotel and was surprise that someone actually pick up the call. I explained to her my predicament and she was kind enough to tell me that she will arrange for an after-hours checkin. She then told me to call her back in 5 min, So I called her 5 min later and the call went unanswered. I called again another 5 min later and again the call went unanswered. In total I called her back 15 times and all no one pick up any of my call. Undeterred, I decide to drove 1.5 hours from the airport to the hotel. The hotel was closed and no one answer the door. I happened to see a light in the hotel office and someone was in there. I shouted from outside and that person suddenly switch off the light and ignore my shouting. I was totally disappointed at how someone can run a hospitality business with such poor customer service. To make matter worst, all the hotel in the area were fully booked and we (family of 4) have to spend the night sleeping in the car.

4/10 Fair

Our room was dirty with many dead bugs on the window sill. The floor in the bathroom was grubby and the floors could have done with a sweep. There was no TV according to the owner that was our fault so he sent the waitress to set it up. Insinuating that we were idiots. The restaurant table we sat at had built up grim and needed a serious scrub.

The room size is good but it is certainly at the budget end of the accomodation scale The heating was poor and the non town water quite disconcerting but they did provide free bottled water to drink I didn't eat there bit the dinning area was quite good. The heater struggled to heat the room all night

Had to use bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth. I wouldn't shower as the water as the colour of black tea. The kitchen and bathroom seriously requires upgrading.

4/10 Fair

The Fox and Hounds looked and sounded impressive but our stay was disappointing. The spare blanket had not been cleaned and folded, insects on the benches, dirt behind the door, non potable water so there was bottled water (water and milk were both frozen solid) and the shower water was brown. Another room was offered but we declined as we had already unpacked and were tired from traveling all day. For what we paid the room was not up to standard. I could just imagine what overseas tourists think.

Lovely old tudor style English Inn. Beautiful surroundings, lovely rooms. Friendly staff. Would be great if they supplied breakfast.. even toast and tea. (To keep in with the old english theme) Great that they supplied water, as tap water was not suitable for drinking. Even tho most people had cars...a shuttle bus down to the Historic site would have been fabulous....even @ $5 pp. Meals are quite expensive but so are other places in Tasmania.

Friendly and comfortable. The water is not drinkable and is brown. Bottled water is provided for free for drinking and brushing teeth, however, we did not want to have a shower in the brown water. Otherwise, lovely views and restaurant, and friendly staff.
