Great stay
The stay at Best Western is always good. However, this is the second visit where there were no dollies to take your luggage to the room. Therefore several trips were needed to get things from the car to the room. Also, the hotel doesn't use trash bags in the trashcans inside of the rooms. They said it was done on purpose, which I guess is their decision. It could cause a mess, especially if you have a child in diapers/pullups. Otherwise the room was satisfactory as always.

The locks for one of the rooms did not work. There appeared to be mold coming through the ceilings. Water was ponding in one corner of a bathroom sink. A dead roach was left on the floor in a room. The bed linens had stains. The staff was nice.

Staff was sooooo good! Pool water was cloudy and the elevator didn’t work so we had to carry all luggage up the stairs. Staff did do their best to get us onto the lowest floor.

We chose to stay at this location and cancel our existing reservation at the Hampton inn because this location offered a larger room with two tvs so my son could play his game system while I watch tv. However, our room was not equipped with two tvs as stated and they were unable to move us to a room that did after telling us they would and bringing all of our things back down to the lobby. The front desk was unable to tell us about the issue because the phone in our room did not work. Our room was also uncomfortably warm which didn’t improve after the ac ran for a few hours and it got dark as we had hoped. I had already had my autistic son settled by the time I realized that it wasn’t going to cool down enough to be comfortable or else I would have asked for a move. I chose to sweat and toss and turned all night rather than disrupt his routine because his behavior can be unpredictable and disruptive when that happens. The hot breakfast options weren’t great. The eggs had a weird texture and the potatoes were hard…possibly undercooked. We didn’t go hungry since they also offered continental options. The staff we did encounter were friendly. Arionna did try to fix the tv issue, but I guess there was nothing to be done. There weren’t any musty smells and everything seemed clean. It was just a lousy sleep after traveling all day and having another day of travel ahead of us.

I called the hotel the day before to state I was traveling through the night from KY to VA with a horse trailer that I needed to drop at a school to pick up my daughters horse to bring home for the summer which is a 10 hour drive and would I be able to check in earlier than the check in time, I was advised I could check in 10-11am as the hotel was not fully booked. I was staying 1 night and had to be back on the road to pick up the trailer from the school back to KY. I arrive at the hotel at 10:30am to be advised that I will be able to check in at 12-1pm as housekeeping was cleaning the rooms and they had no rooms available.. 1:30pm I asked If there was a room available and was told no normal checkin is at 3pm and the receptionist before has finished the shift….and the hotel was fully booked last night…. 4pm I was finally given my room key to check in to a room, an hour after the normal check in time. Customer service for this hotel is terrible and they do not accommodate for needs or try and help you. I would not recommend staying here unless you arrive after the check in time as they will not accommodate for you.

Disappointed
Upon arriving the receptionist was pleasant. We were given the keys and when we went to check the room, one of the beds was unmade and the floor had trash on it. We reported it and was given another room. Breakfast was good and the server was friendly. On Thursday, one of our keys stopped working. I sent my daughter downstairs to activate the key while I get dress for my event. My daughter came back and said the receptionist told her that I needed to come downstairs and was I there in the room. I stopped in the midst of getting dresses and went downstairs to activate the key. I was then told I needed my ID before the key was activated. I'm like are you serious? I went back to get my ID and when I came back the manager was standing there with her as though I was going to act out of character. I'm too classy for drama. She then proceeded to say it was policy. However, I didn't see that on the form I signed, but it was okay. This same receptionist saw me and my family sitting in the dining area eating breakfast that same day. So apparently did you think we just walked in the facility to eat and stay without pay? I paid to stay just like everyone else to be treated as though we were there illegally. I was disappointed by the actions. But thankfully I was only there for 2 nights. I wouldn't be able to stay any longer. Need I add the air was not working properly, but we survived!

Our room door was broken and you had to lean on it to shut it. The hinges were pulling away from the wall. cobwebs in the corners and on ceiling. Roaches crawling the walls in my room. Only saw a few but gross! Would have left if I had the option but it was only a few hours to stop on a long road trip. Staff was nice.

Simply good quality
My stay was surprisingly pleasant. The hotel looks very humble, set back from the road, but everything inside is maintained really well: no shabby carpets, no threadbare towels, no rust stains in the bathtub . . . Breakfast was what you would find in most hotels of this sort, except here the place was neat as a pin. The eggs were fluffy and the coffee was good! The staff is pleasant, friendly adults. Seem to like their jobs. Next time I go to VIR I plan to stay here.
