Overnight stay before train to Picton.
We were able to check in a little early which allowed us to return a loan car on time. Friendly service at check in. This continued in the morning with a very welcome lift to the train station where the check in was 06.30.

Neat and clean Motel.
Prince gave us a warm welcome and initial introduction to Christchurch. He also took us to the train station ( nearby) to catch the Tranzalpine train to Greymouth. Everything we needed was in the room ...excellent tea coffee selection, microwave, fridge and fresh milk, which was an unexpected extra. An Uber cost nz12 to get to centre of Christchurch but you can also walk to the Botanic Gardens in about 40 minutes.

We chose Tower Juncrion for it's high rating and price however struggling to know how it achieved this rating - unless it is only our unit that is sub standard. I will say the bed was comfortable and bathroom good, although very compact. However - the carpet was disgusting with stains all over it - the unit had a very unpleasant smell - lighting was very dim. Possibly eco bulbs as did improve but not inviting to enter a dark room - the sofa is not comfortable and needs replacing - bedroom only had pull down blinds so didnt block the light coming from outside, making it quite light in the bedroom

The staff are really nice and helpful so it feels a bit odd writing the opposite about the room. The unit was clean to an acceptable standard. However, could do with a proper carpet clean every now and again as carpet was very stained throughout. Unit was really cold as only has a super small wall heater in the lounge only. Terrible condensation from the bathroom and can't leave the window's open in winter due to the cold.
