Don’t book this hotel
Do not book this hotel unless you want to get your money stolen the second an issue with the ferry happens. The ferry (only way to get to the island/hotel) was canceled due to high seas the day of our stay while at the port. We had the ferry and hotel booked months in advance. I called the hotel the moment we were told the ferry was canceled and explained the situation. I was advised to send them an email as they like to have everything in writing “per our manager.” I emailed including the confirmation from the ferry company of the cancelation, and got a one sentence reply that they’d let me use the booking any point in the next week. How they think this is reasonable when someone already has all other accommodations booked out is baffling. Nor was there any guarantee the same issues with the ferry wouldn’t happen again. We were not planning to be back in this area of the country again either, as most people exploring Iceland, you’re not staying in one area the entire trip. I explained this all in detail, as well as two follow up emails with absolutely no reply. They completely ignored and ghosted me. Money down the drain, even if you pay for free cancellation protection it doesn’t do anything when you find out the day of your stay you can’t get there. Complete joke, you think they would do the right thing considering it’s the only way to even get to their city.

Had a good stay at this hotel. The room was clean and we had a nice view of the island from our room. The spa area was a bit of a let down. It was a very long walk to reach this area and it was more run down than the rest of the hotel. The water in the spa was not salted or chlorinated so I’m not sure how hygienic it was. However, I would still stay at this hotel.

Very nice hotel (for the area) , none/poor signage outside, but typical of area. rooms are very small and basic, but typical for area. Very clean and recently updated. Bathroom is tight squeeze for big guys. No A/C , open the window. 6” round night table. No dresser, just a clothes bar and two cubbies.

A bit disappointed
It’s in a great location but my room was above the restaurant and very noisy. It’s very bare bones on decor as well.

Staying at the hotel made for a great experience on the Island. The room was great. The views from our room were great. The shower tempted to waste lots of hot water. The breakfast was very enjoyable both in quality and being located in a restaurant instead of a standard hotel community room. The location in town is where we wanted to be with easy access to restaurants and the standard tourist town walk. It’s easy to recommend the hotel.

Happy Birthday!
We were very happy with the hotel. Our room was bright and had fabulous views and we enjoyed using the spa. Our biggest issue was that we were there on a Monday night offseason and almost all the restaurants were closed including the hotels. But the desk was very helpful in finding us some options and helping my wife set up a birthday surprise for me at the restaurant.

6/10 Good

The hotel is lovely and the staff who greeted us were kind and accommodating. However, since we were the only guests for breakfast, she asked if it would be okay to take late checkout and skip breakfast. We agreed, but only because we felt embarrassed to say no. We book all our stays based entirely on breakfast being included in the room rate, and this room was more than twice the price of others in the area. We travel a lot, and review a lot of properties. Our regular rating system allots two out of five stars for a hotel’s breakfast, so as good as the property may be it can never get more than 3 stars without breakfast. Had we known there would be no breakfast, we would have booked a less expensive property and saved ourselves $200 US dollars. I’m sure it would have been at least 4 stars under different circumstances.
