The hotel was conveniently located and clean. It was not easy to find staff to check in or get room supplies. The room was clean, but spare. No towel rack, no tissue, no pictures on walls. Lacked appeal. Seemed like a dorm room. Breakfast choices were plentiful and well prepared. Pub was cozy and convenient. Pub and dining staff were friendly and helpful.

Sinking ship
Hotel felt fairly dirty and run down, very under staffed. Room rate was expensive and didn’t include breakfast. General feel was that the hotel has ‘given up on life’, is merely surviving on the over flow business they get during wedding season by charging ridiculous rates knowing people have little option. The few staff that were there were very pleasant but sadly not enough to make me ever want to stay at this overpriced sinking ship again.

Had an overall good stay at hotel with my one year old son. Just a beautiful location on the map and our favourite place to visit, Dunkeld. We were in the Annex which is just, well, one room and toilet/electric shower. My opinion would be a slight bit work needing done more to the decorative side of things. Staff were nice for basically 30seconds but that’s all I had to deal with them to be fair, but very nice overall.

2/10 Poor

Overpriced and grotty. Beware of legionnaires!!
Overpriced for a room that barely could fit in a double bed. TV swamped the room. Paint peeling off walls and window frames, with black mould on them. Bathroom the size of a wardrobe in which you had to be a contortionist to use the toilet if you were taller than a midget. Luke warm (maybe 22-23C) “hot” water for a shower the next morning. At that temperature the water system will be prone to legionnaires disease. No one at reception to complain to. We had booked breakfast with them, but if the chefs had no hot water to wash their hands, what would the kitchen cleanliness be like? We cancelled breakfast with them and had a lovely breakfast at May’s cafe down the road. Avoid. Camp under the bridge over the river instead.

A stopover on our way home. The hotel could be described as ‘tired’ but was more than made up for by the super friendly staff.

Served a purpose but hotel needing upgrade
We were in the Annexe which we hadn’t realised despite it saying in the email confirmation. This likened a chalet/scouts hut and was very compact but comfortable. The general hotel is needing an upgrade but for attending a local wedding it served a purpose. Toilet locks in main bar/restaurant are very patchy and things are just needing replaced. Breakfast was good but the guy running breakfast was under pressure. All in all it was functional but wouldn’t recommend for a tourism stay.

6/10 Good

The accommodation I thought I booked was for two twin rooms in the hotel, but what got was two very small twin rooms in chalets out the back. The chalets looked like large shed which had been thrown up and the area surrounding the building was pretty grubby, with weeds all round, water dripping from the gutters, the windows weren’t very clean, the paving surface area into the respective rooms was very poor. Cracked, broken surface, just basically not very nice or inviting. The food and service in the hotel was good, but at breakfast time there was no hot water in the urn to make tea or coffee. The urn was on but no water coming out as it had run down so low and obviously hadn’t been filled up, either first thing or the previous evening.

2/10 Poor

Royal? Not so much
Beadspread covered in dog hair. Only one small light working in the bathroom. No hot water for the whole hotel for our first night there. Noisy road outside, no double glazing in room, so very restless night. Carpets throughout hotel looking very tired and tatty. Not sufficient parking on premises. Really can't recommend this hotel, especially considering the rate per night.
