8/10 Very Good
Mar 22, 2024
First, keep in mind: English speakers are rare in Recife.
The hotel is decent but not exceptional; however, stained bed sheets were a letdown. Remember, in Brazil, toilet paper can't be flushed.
Breakfast at the restaurant is average, but steer clear of the flavorless juices. Room service food was disappointing too! The grilled chicken was dry, making it hard to chew. It's unbelievable I paid over $20.00 US dollars for that! Also, they lack a serving cart, so they handed me the plate on a tray to leave outside the door for later collection.
There are limited public transportation options around the hotel, with only Uber and taxis available. Bus stops are distant, and the neighborhood is unsafe. It's not advisable to walk alone, even though it's considered the best neighborhood in town. Overall, the city isn't safe.
Essential items to bring to this hotel include a power converter (220W power outlets only), a Brazil plug adapter (incompatible with European and North American plugs), and a non-slip bath mat (not provided, and the floor is very slippery).
While the bedroom air conditioner works well, brace yourself for heat and humidity once you step into the hallway. Recife's average temperature hovers around 102°F, with high humidity. Be prepared for the weather!
