Small boutique hotel. You hardly see any other guests. Beautifully decorated. Warm welcome tea and snack in the lobby while you wait. True Japanese hospitality. Everything is done with thoughtfulness. The dining room has a great view of the beach. Food was delicious. You get a staff member assigned to your room for your stay. Onsen is small but offers a beautiful beach and ocean view. Enjoyed the experience and the stay. Highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful experience. The room is big, all have huge window/ balcony toward the sea. Hot spring bath is also great. You can book tour private hot spring room. What real impressed me is the food. It worths 1 or even 2 Michelle stars. The breakfast has about 15 items. Dinner omakase list is about foot long…Lol. All at very very reasonable price. In all this is an outstanding hotel with over 100 year history worth every penny.

6/10 Good

Poor service, poor English, Poor experience
Can’t recommend this place if you’re western, The stay was overshadowed by a feeling we were unwelcome and due to a negligible level of English, communicating with staff was tiresome and difficult. I spent a lot of money to have Christmas Day here on my Honeymoon and the experience was poor. I had booked Dinner and Breakfast in advance and they had no record of this and made me feel as if I was putting them out when telling them I had messaged ahead. I ordered room service after seeing it on their information pack and it never came. The dinner was overpriced and we had no idea what we were eating as no one could explain it. Very tricky when you have dietary requirements. Worst of all when I tried to complain using language apps to communicate they said what I can assume was sorry and that was it. Things go wrong all the time but no attempt to reconcile things was made which is a huge error in my perspective. I had been in Japan for 2 weeks at this point so had a basic grasp of Japanese Hotel etiquette so I don’t think cultural difference was to blame. All my other hotels on the trip were excellent. A General thing to note against it is that from the pictures it appears to be isolated but is on a busy main road among Larger hotels and opposite a Lawson convenience store. Onsen was excellent and sea views were stunning though this was not enough to make up For rest of the experience.

An Incredible Experience
Everything about our stay was perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and solicitous, the food was incredible, the view across the strait to Aomori was breathtaking, and the onsen was among the most relaxing things I've experienced in my life. I regret not booking additional nights, and would go out of my way to stay here again in the future.

8/10 Very Good

Stayed 2 half board nights in Oct. Very nice homely, beachfront ryokan with posh interior and furnishings. Our room faced the sea and had amazing view of sun setting behind the Mt Hakodate. Beddings are good. Room clean, modern and well equipped. Onsen is clean. Certain part of the ceiling at the male onsen appeared to have balked and may need to be checked. There is 1 indoor and an outdoor pool - both looking out into the open sea. The hot spring water is salty, packed with minerals, but devoid of sulphur and hence its smell. Enjoyed the facilities and hospitality. The kaiseki dinner was artistic that was much appreciated and clearly showed effort and detailed thought in dish creation. Unlike some other ryokans, this dinner spread was not excessive. Breakfast was good and ample. There is a good ramen eatery about 3 minutes walk from the hotel, Ichimonji, which served excellent salt & miso based ramen. And gyoza. Truly fantastic, fast lunch option. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this property. Thank you for your hospitality!

Highly recommended traditional ryokan experience!
+ unfailingly polite and thoughtful service + spacious room with tatami mats, futons and yukatas to wear + Onsen (hot spring bath) on site + delicious dinner and breakfast within on site restaurant from locally and freshly sourced produce - located between JR station and airport so access is via frequent local buses, not so frequent airport shuttle buses and taxis - delicious tea is served at meals but more drink options (including alcohol) would have been welcome! All in all, highly recommended!!!!!

Overpriced room
Paid almost SGD1,000 for 2 nights with breakfast only. Grossly overpriced for such a basic, small, old and dated room. Nevertheless breakfast and service was good. Onsen was clean and basic. Nothing much within the vacinity.

4/10 Fair

I arrived at 3pm and wanted to add dinner and breakfast to my stay and they said as I did not book there would be no food for me. Not even breakfast the next day. I asked for coffee and any simple food and they said” go to train station for breakfast we will not help you!” There are no shops around and the train station was 15 minutes away!! I hate to say this, but it felt very rude, unkind, and in many ways anti foreigner in the gestures and way it was expressed...
