The Astoria Palawan would have gotten five stars for welcoming and helping staff, the magnificent night lights all over the resort and for the great bright orange room accents. But I deducted two stars for customers service and a lack of “adult only” relaxing and swimming areas.
I found it bizarre that a resort with a private beach did not serve drinks or food at the beach. I had to go to a bar, order and wait 20 minutes for my drink to be bought over from the restaurant as the bar didn’t have Piña Colada ingredients.
There needs to be a designated “Adults Only” pool.
I was enjoying happy hour and a swim at the Pod from 4pm.
The tranquility was slowly interrupted to the point that I had to leave as there were over 20 (poorly supervised) children jumping into the pool (breaking a pool rule), splashing in my face and so many high pitched squealing voices.
The bikes were not supervised so there was no one to advise the seat on the bike. The bikes were all quite rusty and are in seperate need of a service. Also, regarding the bikes, you can only ride around the resort, which takes about 10 minutes. I wanted to explore outside the resort grounds but was stopped by a security guard.
The resort food is average, except the included buffet breakfast, which has a good variety of different cuisine choices, so eat up at breakfast time.
I highly recommend the Joshua Restaurant, in a triangular building, out side of the resort for amazing food and well priced drinks.
