Not going back
The shape of the room looks so weird. The bathroom toilet is very small. It looks like it made for young kids. It’s not look very comfortable. I switch to another room and found out it was not clean. No housekeeping clean that room except the bed was made. I was so unsure if they changed it or not.

This place is a dump! Run!
Took a chance on this place based off some of the recent good reviews and its proximity to Harper’s Ferry. The owners friends and family must have wrote the good reviews because this place is a dump. First off, I had to wait for well over 15 minutes for someone to come check me in, and he only came after I called the hotel. The door to our room barely closed, and didn’t have the safety lock so I wedged the chair against the door as a precaution. There was shampoo bottles left in the shower from the previous guest along with trash in the can and grime and hair in the sink. I made my son sleep on a pillow and blanket from the car because I was seriously questioning the cleanliness. If we had not already paid and absolutely exhausted, we would have left.

don’t let the pictures fool you
we booked 1 night before camping for a few days. We stayed exactly 7 seconds in the room that was covered in mold and maybe the biggest spider this earth has to offer. We did not argue with the front desk. We calmlyi dropped the key and drove 90 minutes to the next available lodging in our price range. I am unsure how a room like that can be offered at all to the public. I enjoy roughing it from time to time but I don’t try and acquire diseases while on vacation.

Had to wait ten minutes for him to come check us in. Ask for drivers license took copy then spent another 10 minutes looking up something while still looking at my drivers license. Got key get to the room door ajar. Room smelled sheets had been slept in. This place appeared to be being used as rental for for permanent residence. Needless to say we did not stay. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Do not stay at this hotel! It is filthy and smells terribly musty. The blanket on the bed had cigarette burn holes, the outlet covers were cracked and unsafe looking. The towels were all damp and there was a tiny bit of toilet paper with no refills. Visible dirt everywhere, not updated whatsoever. We had luck with other low cost motels along the route, but will never roll the dice on a low cost motel again thanks to this place.

Run down stay away
The room itself was somewhat clean, quiet and comfortable. But the hotel was rundown, looked like the grass hasn’t been cut for months and there was no breakfast room, they lied about that on their website. They were using the previous owners webpage, the knights inn, pictures. It’s not what it looked like when we got there. The towels had stains and the sink faucet wasn’t bolted down. You had to hold down the faucet just to turn it on. No pride in ownership. We will never stay there again.

Hillside is convenient to Harper's Ferry and inexpensive.. A little beat up but clean and safe.. If you are looking for a no frills place to sleep and a hot shower after a long day at Harper's Ferry it's perfect..

We used the Hillside before and after taking the MARC train from Brunswick, MD, to Washington, DC, for a few days. It was also our base for exploring Harpers Ferry. It is a simple, clean, and convenient property. Check-in was quick. The A/C was quiet and efficient. We enjoyed mornings and evenings on the covered porch.

Absolute dump!
The worst experience I have ever had!!! The room was horrible! The base of the lamp on the bedside table had broken apart and just pushed back together. The lamp shades were cracked and falling apart. The curtain had pinholes in it and was covered in dust and cobwebs. The refrigerator was not completely clean. There was a hole in the wall above the AC unit. The bathroom door had been kicked in previously and barely patched on either side. There was a patch done on the wall outside the bathroom, not painted. There was wadded up wet toilet paper in the corner of the ceiling and the wall above the shower, not sure why? There was dried vomit on the wall next to the bathroom sink and dried blood droplets by the bathroom door inside the bathroom. It was a disaster. I've never seen anything like this before in my life. DO NOT STAY HERE! We did not stay, we demanded a refund and left! They did not give us a refund and I will be contacting Hotels.com.

The property was dirty and outdated. The bathroom was small the door stuck and couldn’t shut it all the way. Drawers off of the desk and chest were falling off and the smoke detector was handing from the ceiling. The mattress was lumpy and it was difficult to move or fall to sleep. They did have a coffee pot that actually worked. Not enough of plug ins for devices and they gave us three different remotes for the tv and none of them worked. Customer service was horrible.
